I've tested this ink extensively and have recommended that it be called "semi-bulletproof", as there is a bulletproof component, but also a non-bulletproof one. Back then, it wasn't called anything, but is now marketed as "tamper evident".

Bulletproofness aside, I find this to be a VERY good ink, with excellent flow, wonderful color and superior value. I have several pens dedicated to this ink AND I've found that a 75% ink/25% water dilution will bring out even MORE shading and a lighter, beautiful color. This ink really is a winner and I'll need to get 4 or 5 more bottles of it to secure my stocks.

Excellent review, too!

Is the 24-lb Domtar paper good for FPs? I can't get the 32-lb stuff locally.

Excellent review, as usual. Your Waterman Blue-Black is a very different color than the sample I have. It looks nice!

BBK is moving up my list of Noodler's to think about getting, but I have so much ink lying around my shoes are starting to get squishy already.

Not meanign to hijack this thread, but check out post #11 in my thread and the BBH & BBK results are explained to a degree by someone from Noodlers.

I love this ink and wish it had better water resistance. However, I'm pleased to say that I just washed some and after the "top" level of blue washed off, the writing remained entirely legible. The trick, it seems, is to wash it thoroughly enough to get rid of all that top layer.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

This is an attractive ink, but the flow is a little thick for me. I've taken a cue from bluemagister and started diluting it, which helps.

I just got this ink last week, and I'm lovin it, very saturated! If you add distilled water 20%-25%, as bluemagister said, it'll show a nice shading and will be lighter, but still a rich color.

I can tell easily that Signum1 tampered with the ink sample marked as "30 Minute Soak Test," so it really is doing its job. :bunny01:

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Couple of questions. . . Does it have a peculiar smell? Also, have you noticed it leaving any sort of greasy blue film on nibs and feeds, that doesn't rinse off easily?

These are both traits of Texas Blue Bonnet that I've noticed, and I wondered if the other new "bulletproof" blues (BBH & BBK) do the same.

There is a different smell as opposed to other noodlers, not foul but different. not a deal breaker. There is nib creep, and it does was or wipe off easily for me on my Pilot nibs.. whether it be gold or steel.

You can pretty much be assured that bulletproof inks come with chemical smells. That stated, once the ink is loaded into the pen, I did not notice the chemical smell. I rarely address the issue of "nib creep" because I can easily wipe the excess ink off with a tissue paper or paper towel. In addition, nib creep doesn't reduce my enjoyment of using the Kingfisher ink.

Perhaps you can be so kind and draft a review of the Texas Blue Bonnet along with pictures of nib creep so other users can decide if they want to try the Texas Blue Bonnet.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
