Diamine Teal

Recommended Posts

This teal beauty is manufactured by Diamine, U.K. It is a pleasure to use in every aspect; flow, color, saturation, lubricity.....and quite water resistant for those of you who value this particular characteristic.

While reviewing this ink another member of the family happen to return home with a pen loaded with Noodler's Squeteage: to my surprise, they are the exact same color. One can only perceive differences in waterresistance ( little to none), drying time (longer) and in flow (more dense and slow). Right out of the nib there is a slight color difference that dissipates once the inks dry on the paper (Oxford 90g).

The paragraph with NS begins with Noodler's Sq. and ends at Waterman's, the rest is Diamine Teal.

The upper part of the right hand side of the paper ( left hand side of your image) was exposed to light behind a double window pane facing south for 4 months. The lower one was inside an opaque plastic bag.

Thanks for this review! I am a sucker for bluish-greenish inks like this. I've added it to my wish list! :)

PS: Your handwriting is absolutely lovely.

Thanks for the great review. I have some of this ink and it is exactly what your review is. It isn't blue, it isn't green, it's something in between. I have tried it in several pens, it is well behaving, good flow, but I think it is a somewhat undefined color. My sample smells rather strong too...

Nice review, thanks.

And how can this be, because he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

Thanks to all for the very kind comments. The ink is truly worth a try and one of the most enjoyable I've found. Ruud, I cannot comment on the smell, I got the ink in cartridges and I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary ( and I'm picky about that point with my inks). I'll let you know as soon as I get a bottle, which I plan to do soon. The color is very nice. And the added fair water resistance a pleasant surprise.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
