Ink Review: Noodler's Tiananmen

Full Review is here. But here is the basics. Just I love this ink.

Here it is my first review of an ink for the blog. As my first, I chose Noodler’s Tiananmen and what an ink it is. Tiananmen is a fantastic dried blood red once it is laid down on paper. It behaves nicely and does not show any feathering on the Staple’s Bagesse paper that was used for my review.

The pen used was a Jinaho F5 with medium nib and offered some shading while laying down a very nice wet line. When I switched to the Dollar SP-10 with fine nib, you could see less shading and a slightly drier line but it was still a nice rich red.

Thank you, ladyambrosia. Very beautiful ink. I don't like bright red inks, but this one is very nice, as you mentioned "dry blood" red. I really love how it looks in both dry and wet pens.

Great review!

You handwriting is very beautiful! I love it! Are you lefty? I like the way you slant it to the left. The letters are nicely rounded and have a lot of personality.

And Vampire stories for Valentine's day - wow! - that's the spirit of the ink!!!

Aww thank you I have never had anyone call my writing beauiful before Thank you! :D hehe my letters have personality like me ;) I am not a lefty but my Dad is and he was the one who taught me to write. He also taught me to bowl and while I bowl as a righty because I am one, my "hook" to the ball is a lefties...lol

I thought it was! and it is so fun to write Vampire stories with "dried blood"

Excellent review! I really wanted this ink, but got Noodler's Red Black and am satisfied with the darker blood color. I'm glad I have your review to compare!! Thanks!

There was a web site with scans of cats sitting on scanners. I thought it was pretty sappy, because I couldn't get any of our cats to do it.

That's interesting. Can you give us a link?

My cat will sit on a scanner only if she realizes that it's the last thing I want. However, she will not be able to last through the scanning process. She's a hyperactive kitty.

I've lost the original site (how could I be so careless?), but here's a link to someone's scan of cat paws. It makes me feel better about all the time I spend on FP's and FPN.

I had a snail today, partly written in this.....it looked a much 'purer' violet-purple on the paper than what I see in the scan here.

A very beautiful colour.

More violet-purrrrrrrrrrrrrple! I need that in my ink collection.sm_cat.gif

I just love the ink, and if this is the only hue that's missing in the scan I have to buy it.

Thank you for the lovely review agan,

Rita

I agree!

I just got a bottle today and I was pleasantly surprised by the slight burgundy tone of the ink. I had expected more brown tones after reading about this one.

I also noticed that, while the ink looks good on white and moleskin paper, it absolutely pulsates a glowing deep red on the Rhoia webbook's yellow/ivory paper. It becomes a deep ruby/garnet and the paper really brings out the subtle hues and depth.

Now I'm really hoping to find holiday cards what will show this ink to its best advantage.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
