Here is the text of the review:

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein or Benjamin Franklin - can't seem to find verification of who actually said it. But "whatever"!

Well I must be insane, because I insist on purchasing Moleskine notebooks and hoping that the paper will suddenly become fountain pen friendly.

NOT!

I always wonder that the notebook of Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin is not fountain pen friendly. What do they think these people wrote with?

But all was not lost, I will find a use for the Moleskine - as a workout journal, I use a ball point pen or pencil for this, since sweat and fountain pen ink do not mix well.

Also, when I purchased this Moleskine I picked up a Reporter Style Notebook from a company called Compendium, Inc. the website is www.live-inspired.com . I have to admit that I did not expect a lot from this notebook, it was nice to look at and the paper feels good, the cover is hard and it closes with an elastic closure similar to the Moleskine. It contains 96 lined pages and every fourth page has a quote at the bottom, which was kind of cool.

So I gave it a test drive and was pleasantly surprised by its performance. If performed admirably with the fountain pens that I put to it, there was no feathering of the inks and no bleed through, although there was a minor amount of show through. This is a very nice little notebook which retails for $7.95 on the website. I think that it has a future with me.

Here is the link for the full line of these Reporter Style Notebooks. This company also carries a range of products including gift books, greeting cards, notebooks, Window Cards™, postcards and desk accessories - check out the website they have a very nice selection of products, including what they call "Positively Green" products.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the local retailers listed on the web site although I don't remember seeing that particular version in those stores in the past. That notebook is not listed as one of their bestsellers and probably has to be ordered.

BTW, the modern Moleskine has little in common with the "original" notebooks, despite the slick marketing.

How far apart are the lines? From the picture they look to be about 7mm. The maker's website doesn't say.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
