PLEASE NOTE: You are not seeing the exact color of this ink. You are seeing the color as interpreted by my scanner, as compressed using JPEG, and as displayed by your monitor. Is it close to the real thing? Probably somewhat close. But exact it is not.

Ergo, therefore and hence, if you would like an honest to goodness, genuine, hand-written sample of this ink, just shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to send you a postcard*.

Thanks, excellent review! I considered including this ink in my recent mega-purchase of Diamine inks, but went with Turquoise instead. I think I like the Turquoise better as it's a bit darker and not quite as bright, similar to Sheaffer Turquoise. This is a lovely color though, a bit like Montblanc Turquoise. I'm impressed how well these Diamine inks behave.

"Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs" --thanks for that--never heard of it before and I'm tired of the "quick brown fox".

Hi BobR!

I was wondering about that Diamine Turquoise. As soon as I posted the review last night, I went to the Pear Tree site and included Turquoise in a new sample pack. I think a little darker will be great!

Yeah, that quick brown fox got old in grade school =)

Cheers!

I think you've found my new turquoise.

For years I've been using diluted Pelikan Turquoise, and have got a bit bored with it. This Diamine looks like it'll do the job. I have Diamine Turqoise, and it's a bit dark. I always use the photocopier test for Turquoise - if it can't be made to disappear on the lightest setting, then it's too dark, and if it can't be made to look like black on the darkest setting, it's too light. This will probably do both.

Regards

Richard.

Richard,

I tried your photocopier test with my review sheet. The ink could not be made to disappear on the lightest setting and neither could it be made to appear black on the darkest setting. Of course, this might be a flaw (or feature?) of my copier.

Just thought you should know =)

If you'd like me to send you a quick note on white paper using this ink so that you can test for yourself, just say the word.

Cheers!

Thanks. I think I'll get it anyway next time I want to order some ink. It looks pretty good from your review.

  • 1 month later...

A nice coulour, for sure ! Thanks for this helpful review, Eric.

But I'm surprised by what BobR said : that Aqua blue is lighter than Turquoise. Comparing the batches on The Wriiting Desk site, my monitor shows the opposite !

Would it be possible, BobR, to post a scan of the Turquoise ink here ? I'm just preparing an order of Diamine Inks for mixing... and still hesitate on the right cyan.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
