Wanted to share some pics of my latest acquisition called the Deccan Masterpiece. This is a new offering from the Deccan pen stores in Hyderabad and the moment I heard that such a pen was available, I had it arranged to be picked up, I could somehow manage to buy the last piece available(Thanks Jai!)...

Very nice lighting and exposures on the black pens, hari. There is a lot of shadow detail visible and that's not easy to do with a black pen. That reminds me, I need to work on my lighting technique.

Nice pen, Hari! What's it made of, ebonite?

I've never seen like this before!

Do you know if the Deccan store takes orders from outside India?

Hari, this pen is really handsome! I believe hand-full also! How is the writing comfort? Performance out of the box (packet?)??

Cheers!

Abhik.

Hi Dimpu, yes I bought this pen from Deccan at Abids in Hyderabad. You might want to enquire the cost and availability directly from them, I had bought this pen a while back.

Best Wishes,

Hari

Hi Hari, Do you have a contact info for the Deccan store? Do you have other Deccan Pens, that you can share pictures of? I may be able to purchase through a local friend, but obviously I could benefit from some visuals. Any information you provide will be helpful.

Hello,

I am new to this forum, but have been facinated by the sheer range and quality of Indian pens.

I have just bought a Guider Jumbo and a Green Supreme.

However seeing the Deccan Materpiece I am very keen to acquire on of these as well.

Are you still selling them? If not do you know how I can get one as I am based in the UK.

My thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards

Welcome to FPN and thanks for your interest in Indian made pens. You will find alot of posts in this photgraphy forum where my colleagues Jai, Ashishwakhlu, tractionavant and me have tried to document various models.

Best,

Hari

I have the same pen from Deccan Pen Stores.... In fact, I have many hand-made pens from Deccan pens.... We buy from them since ages. My grandfather, my father and now I buy from them... the quality is really good... they have fixed all my pens and still many pens are with them as they are fixing.... they had some last pieces left back in 2009 but then in 2014, they came up with some more pieces. When I bought they had only 3... now I dont know... I am attaching other pens along with this post, that I bought from Deccan Pen Stores...The quality is just amazing... when you write, it feels really good.... and I am unable to attach pictures :-/

how to attach pictures? :-/

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
