Pelikan replacement parts

Hello, quick question, can you purchase replacement parts for a Pelikan? To be more specific a replacement cap and/or body for a M805? Cheers!

I've noticed that Richard Binder sells bodies for the M200... I'm not sure about the M8xx.

Maybe you tried him already...

To the best of my knowledge neither Pelikan nor any other maker sells parts. Nor do most repair people. It's just too much trouble.

Someone comes to you wanting a part, you send it, it's the wrong part or it "broke" during fitting and pretty soon you are refunding someone's money and taking back a busted part.

The best thing to do is to send a modern Pelikan to Chartpak for repair or contact a competent repairperson for a vintage pen.

I hate to be negative, but as a vintage repairperson (maybe that's repairer of vintage pens), guess how I know all this?

If you want a barrel and a cap then it will probably be cheaper to buy a complete pen and flog the nib ;).

Actually, it's a very interesting and versatile word. I figured this is the British version of the word, as the American version of it would conjure imagery of some poor nib getting slapped with a whip. "Bad, nib--bad, bad nib!!" ;)

Courtesy of Merriam Webster:

Main Entry:flog Pronunciation: \ˈfläg\ Function:verb Inflected Form(s):flogged; flog·gingEtymology:perhaps modification of Latin flagellare to whipDate:circa 1676 transitive verb

1 a: to beat with or as if with a rod or whip b: to criticize harshly

2 : to force or urge into action : drive

3 a: chiefly British : to sell (as stolen goods) illegally <flogged their employers' petrol to ordinary motorists — Economist> b: sell 7 <traveled by horse, flogging encyclopedias — Robert Darnton> c: to promote aggressively : plug <flying around the world flogging your movies — Peter Bogdanovich>

4 British : steal 1

intransitive verb

1 : flap, flutter <sails flogging>

2 British : to move along with difficulty : slogflog·ger noun

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
