Sailor Bung Box Happiness

A yellow green from Bung Box. They call this "Vert véronèse" (see also French Wikipedia).

The box features a happy yellow "Bungfox" which is cute.

Colour: the swatch from Bung Box looks like this.

But it actually looks not as bright as I expected from the swatch. It's much more muted.

I am actually a bit let down by the colour. I'd loved it if it looked more like the store swatch. I shall try it again later in a wetter pen to see how it turns out.

Nice, but not exactly my type of green. Well once Japanese Empire wanted to conquer the world, but they failed. Good for us. Now, Sailor could conquer the world with its astonishing range of high quality often unique inks, but they didn't do. Why??? :wallbash:

LG, I'm with you. I had expected something really bright and cheerful and it's sort of a let down. I had the same problem with Luminescence which is less exciting than Noodler's Dragon Catfish green.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have it and quite like it. In normal writers it is a little like new grown grass - bright, but not neon green. It has lovely shading in wet flexy nibs and comes out a little darker in shade.

I have been happy with all the Bung Box inks I was lucky enough to purchase either from Atsu or Vanness this is one I tried yesterday when I was looking @ the array of inked pens in front of me. It was a pleasant change from the dismal landscape of winter & I remember when it arrived I was happy that it evoked the intense green that comes with Spring/Summer growth. There are surely several BB's that I like better but none that were disappointing to me.

I suspect my limited immersion in the world of ink after growing up in a world of Blue's/Black may be responsible for my easier satisfaction than many others. I am still happy to have found all the different "shades" of ink available. Tonite I ordered my first "scented ink" & will be excited to experience that upon arrival.

I'm glad you are sniffing out new inks. :)

This morning I received the new Montblanc "Golden Yellow" ink from La Couronne du Comte & because I didn't feel like filling an empty pen I refilled an almost empty cartridge of MB's "Ink of Joy" in a stub nibbed Carene. I retained good swabs for my ink "pages" but just wanted to see if a possible "MB Apache Sunset" would result. Too soon to tell since the feed was assuredly full of "Joy" but it felt like a fun experiment with the "newest" ink on hand. So yes I am both "sniffing & mixing," my first attempt with combining inks.

The MB "Golden Yellow" is a really pretty ink when swabbed heavily. I will look forward to filling a pen with an "oversized" nib with it when one becomes available or may even fill "YET ANOTHER" pen if I get anxious. The Diamine Flower set also was in the LCdC package & I look forward to much New Year's fun with it. NOW that should certainly yield some "GOOD sniffs!"

I'd love see a letter, BarkingPig. :)

The letter was the easy part; "done & done," yet I decided to take a "look see" what other "golden" inks I had "On Hand" ..................& THAT was/is the problem!

I am awaiting the arrival of the "loony bin wagon" because I needed a BASKET to gather the bottles I discovered! I seriously had NO IDEA.........I admit to "liking a GOOD ink" BUT "How in the devil did I amass SO MANY "golden" inks? (I MUCH prefer ORANGE..so I knew better than to collect THEM!)

I have resisted counting inks I purchase & have effectively arranged storage in "various" chests, cupboards & wooden boxes to further "confuse the issue;" a box of perhaps 20 bottles hardly seems like "a lot," yet they seem to have "ganged up on me" with this perusal of golden inks! I like "gold," BUT I seriously prefer greens or browns........so I hesitate to perform similar "collection" for them; AND then there is PURPLE........and my commitment to experiment with "dipping into Blue/Black's to try & conquer my dislike for the 1950 predominance of Blues or Black inks..........

The "loony bin wagon" has arrived, I am going to try to leave with a J Herbin glass dip pen & my my basket of "golden inks." Perhaps it will be "just a bit" till I am able to communicate again!

Oh dear, I will miss you. I'll come visit and sit next to you with my glass pen and "amber" inks.

Huh-I totally disregarded this ink until seeing your review!

Number one thank you for doing the review and number two, I may now have to track some of this down!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
