Akkerman 27 Bezuidemwoudgroen

Amber sent me a very small sample of this ink a while ago, and I just got around to using this ink. It is a nice ink with good characteristics that is slightly above average. It is also very hard to obtain. Still not sure where to get a bottle even if I wanted to.

This review will follow my normal standard format for reviews, with pictures following a small blurb. The pictures were taken with an iPhone 6, back camera, in artificial lighting. Effort has been made to show the true color, but your milage may vary depending on your monitor. If you would like to see all my ink images, you are free to go to http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews

Here is a preview of the ink. It is a green ink, which is slightly leaning towards blue.

The review was written with my favorite, the Nemosine Singularity Demonstrator, in a TWSBI B nib. The TWSBI B is slightly finer than the Nemosine B, but not by much. It's only a hairline difference.

Since the Fission is super easy to swab nibs with, I also swapped in my Nemosine 0.6mm stub nib, which I custom smoothed myself, and modified into a slight right oblique.

The paper is my standard, HP 28lb copy paper, which is now discontinued. It is similar to the HP 32lb paper which is also nice, and still readily available.

Here is the swab of the ink.

This ink has fairly good characteristics, but can still be a bit better. The ink is a little dry, but not by much, and it provides a fair amount of lubrication, as to not experience scratchiness. There is very little shading, but it still is present. It is just very subtle. There is a little feathering present, but also very subtle. There is very little show through this with ink, but there is some noticeable bleed through. It is not too major, but is noticeable on some spots. Also, no dry smear present.

The ink dries EXTREMELY FAST on this paper! It dries in about 3.5 seconds and it's not even labeled as a quick-dry ink! Amazing!

Here is a comparison with other ink colors. Use this as a calibration for your monitors and the photos. I did not intend this to show similar colors.

This ink is EXTREMELY similar to the Caran d'ache Chromatics Vibrant Green. The color seems virtually identical, with very subtle differences. I don't think I can even tell which is which, in a side by side comparison.

Here is a water test. The top grid had drops of water placed for 10 seconds, then vigorously wiped downwards. The bottom text did not receive any drops of water and was only wiped with in the same motion as the grid. The ink performed quite averagely, as it is not billed as waterproof. There is noticeable ink lifting, and not much wet smear. Also, I forgot to take a picture of the water test before the test. Oops.

Here is a poorly drawn ghost to show how the ink looks with sketching, and coloring.

Lastly, here is a scan of the review. Use the scan to read the rest of the review. I did not intend for it to show color accuracy. The pictures are the most accurate representation of the color.

That's all folks! I would give this ink a 7.5/10, just because of the issues with it. If you liked this review, stay tuned for more to come!

Glad you enjoyed!

The reviews from Visvamitra suggest that this is actually a Diamine ink. You can buy them from Vaness pens in Arkansas. The reason to buy the Akkerman is the amazing bottle.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I didn't know they sold them so close to me! Will have to check more of them out! I still don't get how the bottles work. I am not sticking my pen all the way into the bottom of that bottle, let alone a syringe. And there is a huge ball blocking it either way!

Ah, see you tip it over an fill the top well. The marble keeps enough ink in the upper well. You fill the pen from the upper well only.

Oh well that makes a LOT more sense to me now! Does it work even when the ink volume gets very low?

Hmmm gotta see if I can get a bottle then! How many mL of ink is in the nifty bottle? It looks like 80mL to me.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
