Fountain Pen Day Ink Sample Giveaway

Recommended Posts

In celebration of Fountain Pen Day I'm going to give away three (possibly four) packages, each with 30-35 randomly drawn ink samples (in vials) AND a dip-pen with a gold-plated steel nib and a small notebook to help with the sampling.

Enter at: http://ktxc.to/win-ink (scroll to bottom for entry code and form).
All samples are from Goulet Pen Co--some unopened because they were duplicates or ink I owned, others I dipped for my swatch book---and include De Atramentis, Diamine, Noodler's, Pelikan, Pilot Iroshizuku, Rohrher & Klingner, Scribal Workshop, Waterman and other brands. International entries are welcome. I'll draw winners on Nov. 7 (Fountain Pen Day).

What a wonderful idea for Fountain Pen Day! Thanks for the opportunity.

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" Patrick Henry

Wait a minute! Is there a Fountain pen day? Anyway, seems nowadays there is a day for everything, so lets make one if there is none.

:yikes: Very generous, very cool.

Is Fountain Pen Day traditionally celebrated by buying oneself another pen?

If it's not, it sounds like a good excuse to start a new tradition.

Hey now, I've already gotten 103 spam e-mails since I signed up! Just kidding - will all of the samples be freeze-proof to survive shipping from Alaska? :)

I'm confused about that website. What happens when the countdown is over?

It's Fountain Pen Day!

And there are no rules, so go ahead, buy yourself something :)

A very nice thought; of course every day can be fountain pen day :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
