I've sampled all 47 of the KWZI inks that I got in a special shipment from Konrad.

 

I started by creating a color chart of all 47 inks. The chart is on Rhodia DotPad paper, was scanned in, and I did my best to adjust for color balance.

Next I devoted a Clairefontaine notebook to testing the inks. For each ink I used a Platinum Preppy 0.3mm, dipped into the ink vial. I tried scanning the pages, but the color balance wasn't working to my satisfaction. So I took photos, and included the 4 Sharpie Markers so that Photoshop's Auto-Level adjustment had some context to make a proper color adjustment.

My fave looks to be the 43 Dark Brown - I love what's left when washed away

 

32 Azzure No 1 has a certain charm about it too.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
