You may be thinking of acquiring a sample, a bottle or a mega bottle, but what ink will you trying out next?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The next order I place from Goulet I'm going to add a sample of the new Caran d'Ache Vibrant Green...I'm intrigued by the mention of a red sheen on a green ink.

My local stationary store has a bottle of Noodler's Baystate Blue. Like forbidden fruit, I'm tempted to try it. All that I've read about it should caution me away, and I can't imagine ever finishing the bottle. But what would my collection of ink be without it?

Not a purchase but will be filling my next pen with Sailor Shigure acquired on a recent trip to Japan.

My ink drawer overfloweth.

Metaphorically, of course.

The day before my four bottles of Akkerman arrived from Nevada (thanks, Amber) I received four bottles of Iroshizuko from a sale at Staples. I feel Fuyu syogun calling to me although Bezuidenwoud groen is right on its heels.

On-Line Brown, from a bottle that I just discovered in the gift box that my On-Line calligraphy pen came in.

I also have four assorted Diamine inks coming in an order that I just placed with Isellpens.

I don't know... likely any of those I've collected for the sake of collecting but as yet not even tried out ...

Visconti Blue...and maybe Montblanc Irish Green and Organics Studio Blue Merle. I've been holding off until the Chicago Pen Show because I couldn't find a place that sold all three (to cut down on shipping costs).

These are the three I just ordered: Pelikan Edelstein Aventurine, Rohrer & Klingner - Morinda, Rohrer & Klingner - Salix.

I'll put the Salix in my pen first.

Not sure yet. I still have four of the Diamine Flower inks to try, plus samples of Grey and Emerald. And there's the bottle of Conklin Endura Black that was swag from DCSS. I think I also have some other samples still to try, but my list of current inks hasn't been transferred over to the new computer yet :headsmack:

Slight leaning towards the Diamine Emerald, though. I think it might be nice coming out of the Morrison ring top, with it's broad-ish nib.

Well, I ordered another six bottles today, but of all of them I am looking forward to the Noodlers Bay State Blue the most. It is kinda the "forbidden fruit" mentality... I have a Konrad that it will be going into, so I am not to worried about "destroying a pen," with ink from the same company. :D

Earlier today I took advantage of the sale at isellpens.com to get some 30ml bottles of Diamine blues I've been meaning to try, namely Bilberry, Florida, Kensington, and Royal. Also picked up a 30ml bottle of Mediterranean (though I still have several international cartridges of it left) and an 80ml bottle of Diamine Chocolate Brown, which I tried a few years back as a sample but haven't seen since then.

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

I am in the process of blending up some powdered inks I have had sitting around. One looks to be a most attractive turquoise.

More on the results later.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
