Nice bright red...thanks for a nice review. I have too many reds (is that actually possible???) but this may make the list!

I guess I like a darker red. I'm going to be selling my Noodler Dragon Napalm.

I really like the sample I received. It is great for marking up drawings for my minions to correct. :)

No you're not blind haha. This color is interesting, depending on the light it'll look more orange or red or just plain pink. Lighting highly effects it's color, so neither of you are wrong.

Nice review. Reminds me of Diamine's Pumpkin but looks like it has a better shading, likely because it's more saturated.

I love this ink. It isn't fade proof, or water resistant, but it is a different color each time I use it.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I've recently become a fountain pen and ink fan and Noodler's Dragon's Napalm is one of the first inks I purchased. I love this ink - the name and colour have really captured my imagination. On that note, I recently had some fun bringing it to life in this video, which you may enjoy if you're also a fan:

If you're an ink purist, I hope you won't mind that I used some science to add unusual "super powers" to the ink for this clip.

You might be interested to hear that while shooting the clip I was experimenting with mixing the ink with ethyl alcohol. This caused an immediate colour change that neutralized all colour except for a distinct almost fluorescent pink shade, which remained.

Noodler's Fan,

After three viewings I remain mystified about your special effect techniques deployed in this remarkable video. Would you be willing to share the secret of your magic? How did you get the ink to scramble about without leaving a trail (wax paper remains my only plausible guess)? And how did you get the ink blob to raise its fur and sort of hiss like a cornered cat (it looks like liquid metal lifted with a magnet)? Anyway, I admire your technique, the fit of sound to movement and the crispness of the narrative. Nathan of Noodler's Inks should send you free bottles in the hope that your creativity will continue.

Hutecker,

Thank you for the review of one of my favorite inks. Unlike the other light colored inks I like, this NDN does not darken upon a second or third pass (as your swab test reveals so clearly). Despite the lack of shading, this is a great ink that behaves so well when marking the cheap paper used by students.

I just hope Nathan sees this.. (can someone forward him a link.. please) and hires you to make more of these videos for other inks.. I LOVE your creativity and technical knowledge... Is totally AWESOME!!!!!

Thanks for the interesting review. I like this ink for it's almost flourescent brightness, though it is hard to read for long passages.

Noodles Fan, your awesome vid best expresses my feelings about this potent brew... use it with careful intent.

Like its cousin BSB, it bites back!

Thanks for watching! I'm glad the little ink dragon is proving to be entertaining and intriguing. I'm happy to chat about it some more but don't want to pull this thread away from discussion of Hutecker's great review of the ink, so I'm going to start a thread for the ink dragon in Pictures & Pen Photography. Cheers!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
