More Ink Comparisons

Here's the rest of the ink comparisons I made. The blues can be found here: Bluish inks

These were done on paper from Rhodia No. 18 pads using a glass dip pen from Paper-Ya on Granville Island. Most of these are from ink sample vials courtesy of Goulet Pens and Paperskater. All in all, that's...about 175 inks (48 bottles and 127 or so samples). Huh...I didn't expect that.

I did these based on how I saw the colours, so you might not think that they qualify for a certain colour category.

Here you go:

Reds and reddish:

Wow, this is tremendously useful. Thank you very much. I imagine it must have taken a very long time. I will certainly be using these, so you've helped at least one person.

Ok, I think we can suspend all posting about ink for the next 50 years. There is no way to top this.

Someone needs to archive this on a webpage. Half the population on here would be eternally grateful for all the work you've put in when ink-shopping.

Wow -- you've been a busy beaver, haven't you?

Thanks for posting this. I've been curious about some of these inks.

Funny how you should mention beavers! My pathophysiology prof mentioned a tourist whose attempt to take a picture with a beaver ended up with him bleeding to death after it gnawed on his femoral artery...A painful reminder that we shouldn't touch wild animals no matter how cute they look

Why is it that these med school profs love to scare everyone with bizarre mishaps that won't ever happen to common people? My anatomy professor went on a ridiculous story about how hernias can cause massive enlargement with males... um, down there. During his "lecture", some student in the back of the lecture hall fainted from alcohol poisoning, but he didn't even notice.

Nobody did anything to that student until the paramedics arrived. The lecturer was the only one who was a licensed doctor in the hall, everyone else were students.

I dunno about med school profs, but that prof normally teaches human anatomy and physiology courses, and pathophysiology courses for RN Students.

WOW WOW WOW

Let me know if you ever want to contribute something like this to the summer fade olympics. This is a great comparison sheet.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
