Campo Marzio Pen Case Review

A simple review of the Campo Marzio Pen Case

Very simple loud orange box packaging

The colour I bought I thought was a dark gray, but is actually listed as being "Blue Orchid" on the box, which does explain the slight blueish tinge. It was the most subtle colour that was in stock.

As you can see there's a leather loop in the middle which can be used either to hold a pen, or used as a divider. Although I would advise against putting any non-screw capped pens into the divider as it can get quite tight and you may end up pulling off the cap and leaving the pen still inside. Although since it is leather, it may just loosen a bit more with age.

Fully kitted out with pens

As you can see, it actually is very well made and can easily fit two of my fattest pens; The TWSBI 540 and the Lamy Safari, and still have space for a Parker jotter ball point.

For $25AUD from the Campo Marzio store, it's very much worth it if you're just after simple and affordable pen case that can carry a few pens. From what I saw at the store, it comes in a whole range of colours so if you want something louder like that orange box, they do carry it.

Hope you enjoyed the review.

I bought the red one a couple of weeks ago and it is my present daily carrier of choice. It is a lovely piece of kit for the money - although I may be biased having lived in that area of Rome I was always going to be attracted by the name.

Il Nome della Rosa, Umberto Eco

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
