Custom Padfolio Review

Recommended Posts

Etsy seller TextileTraveler (http://www.etsy.com/shop/TextileTraveler?ref=seller_info)made me a custom pad holder to carry everything I need when I teach. The particular custom feature I wanted was holders for my glasses and pens on the front of the padfolio:

In the picture I did not push the glasses all the way in, so you could see them. I won't be carry it far usually so I didn't ask for a flap over the pen and glasses pockets, but she could certainly add one.

I needed the padfolio to be letter sized and have a pocket for papers because I accumulate letters about special situations that students hand me. It is useful for me to put them in a safe place as soon as I get them. I got to pick the fabrics I wanted and I decided to go bright on the inside:

The structure of the padfolio comes from something like thin stiff foam, so it holds its shape but is flexible. It is securely held together and very lightweight.

She has another padfolio with glasses case at http://www.etsy.com/listing/91089290/batik-fabric-notepad-cover-with-glasses, but it was a lot of fun to work with her and request exactly what I wanted. The price was $26 plus $5 for shipping. She was busy with a big job so the design process took about a week. I paid for the final design on Saturday and it arrived in the mail on Wednesday.

That's pretty cool. It looks to be the perfect functional folio with both fun and simplicity in mind. I'm glad you found this person on Etsy to get what you needed, and at such a reasonable price. I found absolutely nothing on the 'net after your first query with your specifications.

Thanks for the review and the link.

It is lovely, thanks for sharing!

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
