Dear fellow paper, ink and fountain pen aficionatos,

I am the head of marketing for Exaclair, Inc. We import Clairefontaine, Rhodia, J. Herbin and other brands from our French parent company, Exacompta Clairefontaine, to the U.S. I will post on the FPN from time to time to answer questions and make announcements about products and opportunities to sample or review new products and old favorites.

I am very grateful for the feedback we have received from members of the FPN. I use fountain pens for work and personal writing, although I have to say I am not expert about nibs the way most people on this forum seem to be.

I look forward to participating, and making new friends in the pen and ink world. Thank you so much. Karen

Welcome, Karen! I've become completely addicted to your products and love them all! I'll jump right in and be the first to ask you a question. Someone posted these beautiful Clairefontaine notebooks from France a while back. Can you tell me if they will be available to us in the USA in the future or if there is a way to order them? Thanks!

Warm regards,

Triplet Mom,

Those are great looking notebooks. I hope we get a reply.

Karen, I am really enjoying the Quo Vadis Habana journal. I have looked far and wide for just the right journal, and I think I finally found it in this one.

Hi Karen,

Warm welcome..

imvho think in general, its a wise marketing move to discern which are the popular interest forums, -then consider the issues and possibilties that the users are reporting/debating..

here-what we put inked pen to is thoroughly discussed :D

Welcome aboard, Karen! I found I have an Exacompta journal refill from 2000, and my FP's write like a dream in them. Looking forward to your posts.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
