The Writing Desk

I'm not given to posting this sort of thing often but when I'm really impressed with the service, I just have to go that extra step.

Anna and Martin are great. I placed an order (what? I'm gonna wait for 3 months before the Umber gets to the US? no way!) and received it a week later (counting the weekend - so actually quicker if you go by "business days".) If you ever need ink that's hard to find here in the US and you can buy 3 or more bottles, you'll be very pleased with the cost and the service.

There are so many great suppliers in the US and UK and I want to thank you all for what you do to support the pen community.

now.... off to feed my Honey - she's been running on a meager Umber diet until now. And to try out "Woodland Green".

I'll try to put up a page of my greens soon. Have gotten rid of the yellow-greens unfortunately so I'll reference a blue to help with the color variation.

I'll also try to write neater. :P

I ordered my 3 Diamine inks from them as well and the price become about $13 a bottle due to shared shipping cost. Very fast delivery!

The Writing Desk are great! Excellent service and genuinely nice people. I've had nothing but great service and help from them over the last couple of years.

comments posted above match my experince as well. i previously ordered diamine registrar's ink and a clairefontaine notebook, was suprised at the shiping cost of the notebook, was more than what i paid for postage.

just got my second order, pelikan fount india, aurora black and herbin bleu prevanche. quick delivery and packaged with plenty of foam peanuts.

besides who else has fount-india and registrar's ink for sale in uk!

considering they stock some hard to get stuff and the care and nice service that goes in from ordering to packing to delivery. i will order from them again.

Oh yes! Anna & Martin certainly take care of their customers with great attention to detail and offer a warmth of service that makes for a great first time purchasing experience. My Lamy bottled ink, Clairfontaine notebook and writing set are total quality.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
