I'm so sorry to hear this, Doc. Terrible. Like most here, wondered where you had gone and thought they were your back problems once more. Wishing I could send more than just words of sympathy and courage...

Hi Doc, I don't do the prayer thing, but you and yours are nevertheless very much in my thoughts. I hope things look up for you pretty soon.

To all customers of DocNib:

NurseNibble & I have been off-line since the end of January due to losing our home after about an 8-month battle, which is a horrific experience if you've never gone thru it! Needless to say, our lives have been turned completely upside down & day-to-day existence is a struggle as we STILL try to find a home for us & the pups with our funds dwindling down.

We still can be reached at the old e-mail address of docnib@msn.com or thru PM's at FPN, but reading and/or responding will have to be sporadic due to our situation. Many thanks to those who have e-mailed me trying to find out where we are & I will try to respond asap...please bear with us!

Any moral support will be greatly appreciated...WE NEED IT!

Best To All,

Doc & Family

PS--Admin: Please post this message where you think it's proper place should be (SORRY, frazzled brain right now!).

Doug,

Terribly sorry to hear about this.

Best wishes for quick and positive resolution.

regards

david

I don't know you, Doc, but I hear of other people having the same frightening thing happen to them. It's like a dam breaking, flooding everything it comes in contact with. All the best to you and your family, and your pups.

I am so sorry! I just offered up a prayer for you. I'm trying to get out of a rut since a former employer shut down its office over a year ago. Just got full time work again, but the money is not nearly enough, and as procedure requires my mortgage company has just filed for foreclosure on my own home. I have been reminded by many friends this week that I am not alone, and I offer that solace to you. I will continue to pray. God Bless You!

Courage is fear that has said its prayers.

I'm experiencing financial troubles of my own due to a poor economy. Fortunately, I am not at risk of losing my home but I have some sense of what others are undergoing.

My best wishes, thoughts, and prayers go to you.

It's a feeling of total powerlessness when you do a good job and still get your job wiped out -- then despite your own good record, you can't get other opportunities. I'm hoping the new president will have success in getting the economy started again.

Although I'm but a newbie here - my heart goes out to you.

And for anyone who is getting behind in their mortgages and worrying about foreclosure, please get help from a non-profit housing organization sooner rather than later. There are new programs and new funds available to help, and banks are much more agreeable to loan modifications and deferrals than they were just a little while ago.

When you're starting to get behind get some help - call the local HUD-certified housing counselling agency. A list can be found here, or call the HOPE hotline at 888-985=HOPE (4673).

There are a lot of pseudo counsellors and "debt relief specialists" out there preying upon people who are financially and mentally exhausted by economic turmoil. Stay away from them and get help from the non-profits who are the front line of defense in the current housing troubles. My agency has rescued dozens from foreclosure and saved more than 70 rental units that were abandoned by their owners, during the past year alone. There are many more like us.

Please get the name of the people near you from the HOPE line or website, and please be patient with them, they're among the most overwhelmed workers in our country right now.

If anyone has questions on the availability of resources or anything else to do with these housing rescue programs please feel free to PM me. I will, of course, keep any information private.

Sending you good wishes, Doug... hope you are able to turn things around soon. It's an awful mess out there. I'm also now unemployed, so I kind of relate. It's not easy in this economic calamity that Obama has inherited, so all we can do is just keep focusing on good thoughts and try to source what we need. And look outside the box (I'm now having to consider working in roles I had moved on from...).

Hi Doc,

About to go through the same thing with my home of the last twenty years. I do look around and see a lot of people who are in a worse off situation, that I wonder how they handle their woes.

Positive thoughts to them and you.

Having dealt personally with both DocNib and Eckiethump, it really sinks the heart to hear the troubles you're going through right now. Two great guys to deal with, great fountain pen pro's and plain nice people. Wishing I could do more than sending words of sympathy.

Sorry to hear of your travails, Doc. I hope things do get better for you soon.

We have a close friend who spent about 6 months being homeless. He just moved into an apartment on Monday, after his friends and family helped him out.

We're hanging onto our apartment by our fingernails.

I think we're in the same age range, and it's tough going through this stuff now. Good luck with it all.

Hi DocNib

I'm only new here but send you best wishes.

We in Australia hear terrible stories of what the economic dowturn has led to in the USA.

My thoughts are with you as it must be so difficult.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
