Hi fellow penners:

 

I want to share and show you my new S.T. Dupont Orpheo/Olympio.

 

This is a very nice pen and really a robust one, a very nice platinum finish and almost impervious to scratches. I have now 2 S.T.Dupont Orpheos, this is the first one I bought 3 weeks ago. It has an 18K gold M nib and really a pleasure to write with, very smooth and has a very nice ink flow.

 

The second Orpheo/Olympio I bought a week ago has a very nice deep black china lacquer which is also almost insensitive to scratches - I am going to post a picture of it later.

 

I just hope you will like the pictures!

Silvermink, it is round not squarish <- just a lighting effect.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Yeah, the sterling silver is also nice I have seen it in the pen boutique. And this black chinese lacquer is very impressive - the materials and craftsmanship are really qualitative.

 

Just save and don't give away your 2 orpheos, they are wonderful heirloom pens. Enjoy your orpheos!

Great photographs and a classic looking pen.

 

The design is okay for the pen, unlike other metal pens, it is not sensitive to finger prints and cratches.

How I wish all my other metal pens were all in platimun finish.

The Orpheo is a wonderful pen. Probably my favorite c/c pen. I have the black lacquer with gold trim, sterling silver barley corn and the palladium versions. The nibs truly like butta'. Congrats on your beautiful new pen and on the outstanding photographs. Wish I had those skills.

Georges (or anyone else who knows),

How would you compare the smoothness of the nibs between the Orpheo and the Waterman Man 100? The reason I'm asking is because these are the two pens I'm looking to get. But if one is noticeably smoother than the other, I may just get one.

Nice to have another Dupont compatriot. Your observations about these pens are indeed true and informative. I congratulate you also having those well crafted pens. As of now I just have two orpheos and the way I appreciate them, these won't be my last Dopont pens.

 

Regarding the photos, I just happen to be fond of cameras and shot them under good lighting condition. Thank you!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.
