On the inner side of the clip on all Lamy 2000 models I've seen it says GERMANY.

 

SO... why not DEUTSCHLAND? Do those produced for the domestic market say DEUTSCHLAND?

Do the ones sent to France say ALLEMAGNE?

 

Is there scope for a VERY subtly varied 2000 collection here? :ph34r: Also what is this smiley supposed to represent? ninja?

German products wear everywhere English-only designations, like 'Made in Germany' or 'Germany'. It is rare that you see additional languages. This is a tradition since the 19th century, when the rising German manufacturing industry wanted to distinguish their export products from the dominant British industry goods. The Germans still regard themselves as a leading export nation (I can't hear that anymore ...), so everything wears that English designation.

Just exactly how does one see the INNER side of a clip?! Do you have a micro-periscope? I'd say the "stealth" smiley :ph34r: is exactly right for someone with inner-clip vision! :lol: :lol:

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
