Namiki VP Nib Units

These nib units are now $70 from Namiki.

However, there are still some available on eBay for significantly less (no association with sellers, just FYI).

VP Inserts on eBay

If you've been thinking about getting the Broad VP insert to send off to be stubbed, or a spare Fine to keep as a back-up, move now before the inexpensive inserts are gone.

ParadisePens.com still has them for $30. I just bought one last week. Now that I see the new price everywhere else, I may have to get a broad nib before Paradise Pens raises their price too. Here is the link:

Does that mean the VP prices will go up too?

From what I've heard they're supposed to, something like 20% if I remember correctly.

Seems like everyone has cranked the price to $70 marked down to $56... thanks for the heads up, I grabbed a Broad for future Cursive Italic aspirations.

VP prices have already gone up. If they go up again, I'm to my stopping point for the pens, though I very much like them.

At the risk of running this guy out of VP nibs...

Ebay - Alzisk

edit: oops, same link Savarez provided.

I have purchased from him before, no problems. Just picked up 2 more spares to be on the safe side.

And...

At this moment, Alex has only some medium nib units left and he isn't going to be getting any more in. Per an email sent to me.

ParadisePens.com still has them for $30.

As soon as Namiki discovers this, Paradise Pen will receive a sternly worded warning to the effect that they have a choice: increase their selling price to 80% of MSRP or lose their status as an authorized Namiki/Pilot dealer. Been there, done that, got the email. So we've raised our prices -- but because we sell bodies without nibs, we've actually been able to reduce the price of our bodies and still come out with the correct total price for a complete pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
