Hi Terry and welcome to FPN! :D

 

My relatives live in the Sacramento area and we drive out to visit them every few years (and vice versa) or so, so I was wondering if there were any good pen stores out there :)

 

Oh, and warm greetings go out to every new member who has joined up in the past month or two who I haven't had the time :( to welcome. Welcome all!! :D :D

Another Californian! Welcome!

 

I grew up in Rio Vista, on the "mainland" bank of the Sacramento River on edge of the Delta, downstream from your place. Now some of the water I use down here is from the Delta. I hope the levee improvements really get started, and soon, and in as many places at once as possible. My dad, whose house is on the riverbank, follows the State Board of Water Resources live website data, and he says that the water levels in the big reservoirs are low enough now that he's not worried about this spring's runoff.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
