What's the model name from David's collection with those swirly sub-atomic particles flying around in the trapped capsule that is the pen section? notworthy1.gif

Hi,
Do you mean this one?

Hmmm, Sheaffer that makes me swoon?

OS - check
Carmine - check
Balance - check
Lever-fill - check
Triumph nib - check

Tried to get one this week end, didn't have a chance as it turned out, went for nearly three times as much as I was willing to spend at the time. It would have made a great B-day gift for myself. Oh well, better luck next time.

My one contribution to hobby knowledge.

I found the ad that for the first time gave name to the pattern.

The plastic was described as LAHN by Sheaffer. Three colors available, all with the gold tone threads deep in the clear plastic. Found with Univer, Vacuum and other sub-brand Sheaffer imprints.

Whoa, considering the panoply of heavyweights posting ahead of me --I'm suprised one of these hasn't already appeared! rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

I know these are uncommon to find, perhaps even R***? I know I certainly enjoy owning this example!

The Sterling Crest no doubt is swoon worthy. I've never owned one, though I've handled a couple. And, i had the chance to shoot this set.

Here is my one contribution. I showed it to the folks at the local pen meeting. There was no swooning, several compliments; one member tried to steal the pen:

Sheaffer Balance Radite green red-veined

Although I'd probably trade this pen for one of Roger W's Radite 8Cs.

Very nice indeed and definitely qualify as RARE.
Yours looks to be in nice shape is it the full size version?
I have a user grade full sized example (a few dents and dings in the sterling cap - see below).
I'd love to find a better one or get mine "de-dinged".

I keep asking the Mr Kirchheimer to tackle mine but he hasn't mastered the technique with these yet. In time, I am sure he will...

Yup it is a full size. It also has a couple micro dings in the cap but charming none the less.

I just have a couple, but you hit it, the OS Balance is super. I also have a weakness for PFM. Damn, this is like trying to answer if I like strawberry or chocolate ice cream best. Do I really have to choose?

BTW - I cordially extend my infinite jealousy over that Balance collection.

There have been many swoon-worthy pens posted in this thread and I congratulate you all on your beautiful Sheaffers, especially those OS Balances. This is one Sheaffer that, for me, is very swoon-worthy, my blue PFM IV.

Jonro, in that first photo, is your PFM inlaid nib leaking! My jaw has hit the floor! I thought this was just a Targa problem. Is nothing sacred!?
