Which Sheaffer makes you swoon?

:headsmack: You people are too promiscuous. You can have only ONE favorite pen. I was hoping someone would say, of all these nice pens I have, "THIS" you see, as it lies before your eyes, is the one I can't live without.

Sorry sorry. The header said someting about swooning, not "single favorite pen" ;)

As a young Jedi, I was hoping someone showed me the way. Too many nice pens all at once can make one turned to the dark side. :roflmho:

A man's real possession is his memory. In nothing else is he rich, in nothing else is he poor.

Here are a couple of pens I like a lot. Next to the pens what would really make my swoon is to have a better camera.

All the nice pens you see in my photos I have (except one that has been replaced with another in better condition), you see, are the ones I can't live without.

I'm entirely polyamorous with my pens! Each has their own qualities that make them fun to write with. I have more than enough obsession to go 'round with them.

Given that I've got to get my elder Balances and Triumphs restored, I have to make do with something else. I try to remind myself of all the pens I got before I started focusing on Sheaffers.

When I finally get that OS Marine Green Balance, then maybe I'll consider monogamy.

I am fond of Balances and I have some.

But currently I am drooling after a Black Lifetime Flat Top on the kind of those shown by Qm2 and ethernautrix...

We reviewed that pen before it came out:

PenHero.com Sheaffer Stars of Egypt Limited Edition 2006

Here are a few more pics of that $20,000 pen:

Here's one to pump up the heart rate of a Connaisseur collector. Connaisseur Grande FP/BP set, Blue Ronce, rumored to have been only 10 sets made.

There have been many swoon-worthy pens posted in this thread and I congratulate you all on your beautiful Sheaffers, especially those OS Balances. This is one Sheaffer that, for me, is very swoon-worthy, my blue PFM IV.

  • 4 weeks later...

I could say that almost all the photos posted are swoony Sheaffers for me. The earliest, the sleekest, the Secretary's with the phone dialing attachment, the PFM looks like a perfect pen.

For many years, I'd only known the Sheaffer cartridge pen from the drug store, of which I have a few. When I saw that Sheaffer 1996 Christmas pen, that one day at Tuesday morning, I just had to buy it. Just the right size and weight, so sleek and cheery. I wondered why I'd only thought of Parkers, Montblancs, and Watermans all these years. How lovely to see all these beautiful pens.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

What's the model name from David's collection with those swirly sub-atomic particles flying around in the trapped capsule that is the pen section? :notworthy1:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
