Parker Parkette Deluxe Pencil Refills

I purchased this pen and pencil set for my wife for christmas last year. I would like any information on where I might find replacement eraser and lead storage insert that goes inside the pencil. The pencil was made in the 30's, so I assume these may be hard to come by. Thanks for the help.

The inserts may be next to impossible to find now days. Keep the one that is in the pen and refill it with leads you buy separately. if it is the 1.1 leads, try Yard O Led. You may ave to break the leads as the ones you get may be longer than the old ones were. if it is 0.9, those are still pretty easy to find. I think, not 100% sure but I think Parker erasers for Insignia pencils will be the same diameter as the old eraser.

Hi,

As ANM points out, the .9mm leads are relatively easy to find. 1.1mm leads aren't quite so plentiful, but the good news is that there are several sources out there.

Odd lots of vintage leads turn up on eBay with some frequency. Note that the old packaging typically won't refer to the leads as "1.1mm"; that's a modern convention. I believe you'll need to look for vintage leads designated as "thick."

You can also buy current-production Autopoint 1.1mm leads, in several colors and grades, at pencilthings.com. (No affiliation, etc., but a satisfied repeat customer.)

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks for the quick replies! I was looking to replace the whole thing as I made the mistake of trying to use a 70 year old eraser and it broke on me.

Even if you find another cartridge for the pencil, the eraser on it won't be any better. Dig out the remains of the old eraser (I use an old pocket knife with a pipe cleaner blade) and replace it with a modern eraser. Parker refil EI6 (6mm diameter) will work. Remove the metal collar of the new eraser and twist it into the old cartridge. It works. I have done it a few times.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
