Just looking at these pictures (after drooling at the Nakaya web page) I have a question - Does anyone have a Nakaya with a roll stopper they could photograph and post? I'd love to see one.

Lots of wants, limited funds!

I don't have the roll stopper, because it attaches just like a clip. This breaks up the urushi finish too much for my taste, so I decided to just get the single pen pillow. :)

EDIT: If I was to break up the urushi finish it would be for a clip, not for just a roll stopper. A clip is infinitely more useful, IMO.

Here are my three Nakayas - A long piccolo cigar black urushi, a Tame Sukashi Seiryu Blue Dragon portable cigar and a Kuro-tamenuri portable cigar, all with cursive italic nibs by John Mottishaw. The Blue Dragon has a thread with many more pictures in here : https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/211966-nakaya-blue-dragon/page__p__2210834__fromsearch__1#entry2210834

Here are a couple of quick shots (not great at all, I know, but I still haven't taken the time to take better pictures) of the kanji (my name, Miyako) that Ernest Shin painted in maki-e on my Desk Pen (I love it!):

Here are two pictures of my Piccolo Yellow tamenuri, SF nib (first posted with a review on the french forum here).

Hi, a question about your lovely pen. I figured that the length of the Piccolo barrel + nib is about 4.5" or 11.4 cm. That would make it about the same length as, for example, a Sailor Pro Gear. My Sailor Pro Gear is too short, even for my smallish hands, to use un-posted. I can't imagine posting your lovely Piccolo. How long is the barrel + nib, and is it comfortable to use unposted? A Pelikan Souveran 600 is 12.3 cm long unposted, and is just about right for my hand. I've been wanting a Nakaya, but the sizes, unposted, seem to be either really short or really big. Your advice is appreciated.

For all who post pictures, I suggest you mention the model, to guide us non-owners. Thanks.

Bob

These look great. Is the top one a Neo Standard indeed? Would you have a close up of the section? Ruud

For what it's worth, here are some quick photos of the unpacking of the Platinum Izumo Ironwood gloss.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
