I purchased the "Genkai" with the BB nib......

I absolutely postively love this piece....

It is simple and makes and amazing statement...

I work with industrial designers and of all my pens the "Genkai" is the one they are drawn to... kinda like a kid at Christmas having more fun with the box the toy came in then the toy..... *shrug*

Genkai? Oh you, Winedoc, and TNS are teasing me!

KC, just right-click on the smiley, click on 'properties' and look at the address. There you can see his source of 'lent' smileys. :D

SaintSimon has got it! As I browse forums, I like to see if there are any cool smileys - if so, I just save it and put it into my smiley collection.

Here's what it looks like when you post:

So at this point, we're kind of... http://www.speedmetalracing.com/portal/modules/PNphpBB2/images/smiles/offtopic.gif

Really though, I still want to see pictures of the Genkai!

Hi.

Here is a shot of *some* of my LA Penshow Booty. I could describe some of this, but don't wanna bore you. The pic shows it pretty well. Neat show. Fun to see folks. Fun to find pens.

best regards

What I (we) got from the show was the enjoyment and great experience of meeting many old friends and making new ones.

For me this show was an amazing experience. It was the very first time I had an entire table and was proud my wife Miki volunteered to assist me. She thought she could sit back and read her Japanese books all day and, if she got bored doing that, could go down the block and do some shopping. But, no way. There was constant activity ll four days and this was the best LA Show ever.

Can't wait for next year and already checked the pen calendar for other shows around the country.

What did I get for myself. Nothing, actually. I bought an Esterbrook pencil and some Airline Intl. leather pen cases for friends in Japan. Somehow, there was never quite enough time to test drive all the goodies in which I was interested. Several times Miki ran over to me to tell me there were customers and I had to immediately return to the table.

My only sorta show-related purchase came Sunday morning when I received a call from Japan at 4am. It's evening over there when were (at least some of us) are still in bed. He said he had THE pen for me at the most incredible price. Half asleep and half brain dead, I said Hai, Hai, Hai, shared a few a few niceties and went back to sleep for another hour. It was then I realized what I had bought. WOW!!! It's on the way here now (darn Customs folks) and, I don't want to say much more until it's in my hands and I know it's in great condition, etc. This one pen made up for all of the others that got away.

Actually, there is another show-realted benefit. Two really. Upon arrival at the hotel on sunday morning, our daughter called to let us know she had a car accident. She was safe and the car was not totalled. It's still driveable but, doing a 360 on the freeway at 5 in the morning in the rain and hittiing the guardrail two times is not what a father wants to hear. To our amazement, the only real damage is to the front of the car. Her safety in what could have been a disaster was a bebeit and relief. Even bigger a benifit was how she is handling replacement of her car and how this accident has moved us as a family closer together again.

At theshow I was able to show (that's what a show if for, isn't it) off some of my collection of Japanese pens. Met a very interesting person. This one will have to wait.

'Nuff said. More later.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
