I was sitting quietly waiting for the 2008 MB WE pen and to my joy when I saw pictures of it I knew it was well worth the wait.

Right away I was thinking of the Cervantes. This pen reminds me of it, well for atleast from the design perspective with the metal body and rings on it.

I love the dark green body that works great with the silverish rings that gets thicker and thicker while it goes upwards to the cap.

Most of MB Writers Edition pen are based on the MB 146 and you can clearly see that on this pen.

When capped this pen is a hefty pen but a big chunk of the pens weight is in the cap so once you take it off the pen is much more easy to work with .I'd say comparing the Shaw to the Virginia Woolf and the Cervantes that they all are about the same weight without the cap.

The balance is like the other WE pens directed toward the end because of the brass piston.I find that it will not have a negative effect on the writing.

Just like the other WE pens the piston filler on this pen is very smooth, almost as smooth as a Pelikan piston.

The pen has a nice big inkview another preset from its basic MB 146 design.

The nib on it is 18K white nib. I ordered the pen with a F nib and as expected its a rather fat fine nib and actually feels like a full medium nib.

I love the flower motif on the nib, its absolutely stunning. With the white nib and green/white body this pen is definitely aimed at those who like a white trim pen.

Bernard Shaw's signature is etched on the barrel and isn’t so visible like on other WE pens.

Well back to the nib. The nib is one of the wettest nibs I got out of the box and for me this is a good thing. I adore wet nibs. This nib simply glides over the paper effortlessly and to my enjoyment has a lot of feedback. On the negative side it has very little flex but that’s the deal with most modern nibs (except Omas nibs) so I expected it. So other then this issue this nib is rated very high on my beloved nib list.

The pen has very comfy feeling when in the hand. It has MB's Masterpiece classic cigar shape design and that pays dividends in the hand. It feels completely natural and even though as I said its not the lightest pen in my flock I can see myself using it a lot without tiring my hand.

 

So other then the Dumas I find this pen to be the most beautiful WE pen in my collection and for that matter is one of the nicest pens I own period. I love it and it is definitely a keeper.

I highly recommend it for everybody. This pen is full size but not oversize and will fit almost everybody’s hands.

See - MB can make pretty pens; this one's a little too shiny metallic for my tastes, but I love the dark green bands.

 

And it looks good with the cat. :lol:

Goodguy- Congratulations on getting your pen. I've been waiting for your review. I was hoping you would have gotten it last week as I was on the fence about getting one and wanted to read your review. Long story short I couldn't wait and it should be here today :D :D . Congratulations on the pen, I am glad you think it's a keeper.

Amir,

I handled one last week and admired it. Green (actually more green in person) and white metal is a terrific combination, and the nib engraving is very nice.

Congratulations and happy writing.

 

P.S.

Btw, my Fitz has silver bands on the cap and filler knob that increase in size, but toward the center of the pen and are thinner

Keep the pen and send me the cat.

Well if I will send the cat away it will break his blessed little heart as he is really conected to my FP's.He always sit next to the cabinet looking at the pens.I think he is counting them or thinking which one is his favorite.

Maybe he is sad he doesnt have a thumb so he could actualy use it. :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Mine too! I can never leave pens on the table and turn my back. 3 seconds and the little

monster is batting the pen around in a wonderful game. Also, he LOVES the caps to

ink bottles!

This is really the kind of pen that works well at desk but not necessarily for travel, sort of like the Jules Verne in that regard.

It is Platinum plated and sorry but no writing example as my hand writing is HORRIBLE and I am ashamed of it :blush:

It is my believe the Jules Vern is much heavier then this pen.I think the Shaw is a great companien for everyday use.

This is the second day I am using it and I enjoy it more and more and the weight is really not an issue because as I said without the cap it isnt that heavy.

 

Oh by the way I should get the Jules Vern in few days so expect a review of that pen in a week or so from today :puddle: .

Looks like a Hebrew good luck or protection charm- it's got the breastplate jewels on the bottom and I can't read Hebrew so i'm guessing.

Its got a blessing on it that blesses the house.

The jewels on it represent the plate with jewels the high priest used to ware in the holly temple 2000 years ago in the temple.
