I've been using my Snorkel for over a month now and it is definitely worth keeping. Very neat pen.

Hello. Sheaffer Newbie here. Apologies. Bet one of you can tell me if the Lifetime pen collar unscrews or pulls out. Mine seems to be S.T.U.C.K.! Just want to see what's in there. Thanks ahead of time.

Honestly, you don't just want to see what's in there. Unless there is an absolute need to take the nib and feed out, leave it alone.

i too love sheaffer legayc heritage brushed gold fountain pen with 18k gold nibs-9031 pens. i just bought, 4 pens of sheaffer 440 from peytonstreet. the pens are good.

I have a Lady Scheaffer XBI that's what i was told it is gold in color 1960s it was in a box of things i purchased at a estate sell. is this a rare pen. i don't really collect them.

Looks like I'm about to join the club. I just paid for what I believe is going to be a Snorkel Admiral. I'll know more when I see it. This will be my first Sheaffer.

I think you'll enjoy the Snorkel. I have one with a fine nib that I use all the time now. I find it's a great pen to use when writing checks - very smooth and not too wet.

Yes indeed. There is already a topic going in both the Sheaffer and the Cross subforums.

 

The usual musings about what the future will bring... And some speculations about the rather muddy situation since Cross was divided earlier.

An update on my Sheaffer. It is an early model Admiral, based on the large fitting on the feeder tube assembly. My first Sheaffer is also my first Snorkel, and it's also my first repair. I replaced the sac and rings. It was fairly simple, with the O-ring on the barrel being a little tricky. It took me a few tries. That said, I like this pen. There are two small cracks in it - one near the clip, and a very small one near the plunger. All in all, I don't think it's too bad with $26 and my time invested. I decided my new gray pen would be tested with some P.R. Gray Flannel.

 

One question - the feeder tube isn't a diagonal tip - it's a straight tip at the end. Is this just an early model feature?

I've been busy....I now have three Sheaffers, two Admirals and a Statesman (which I believe has a Triumph nib). I've done the repairs on all three, and I'm getting used to the process. This is the first Statesman, and I really like it, so far. I'll probably take that to work with me this week to get used to it.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
