Sometimes I find my desk by putting everything on another flat surface. It's sort of embarrassing.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I especially like the phone set up as a screen and the FPN webpage. Great job.

I just noticed your comment. There's not a phone in my photo, I think you were looking at my Lego-style calendar. It was pretty small in the original photo and did look like a phone because of the bright center and black border. But it's just plastic blocks that I take apart on the 1st of every month and reassemble for the new month's calendar.

Just so you don't have to search back several pages, here's the original picture:

My room/desk space. I think it's quite neat for a student bedroom.

Such a beautiful picture. Almost artistic, for some reason. This could go in some sort of photography competition.

This is possibly the nicest thing anyone has ever said about be a photograph I have taken. Thank you so much, mister Mastiff!

Very cool. Where's that guy who goes rolling back and forth through there like Dr. Evil?

That is one organized space. I wonder where the pens are kept.

The desk at home.

Sometimes the right side looks like this:

and the left side like this:

But more often than not, it looks like this:

The work desk from a couple of years ago. I'll get an update today (we got updated stuff).

I'm a GIS Analyst/Cartographer - you need a lot of real estate when making maps. I didn't get a new photo, but we now have four monitors on the desktop, still have two for the laptop.

I typically use three of the four and save the laptop for when I'm working on two projects at once.

Of course I would like to say that my desk is an heirloom which has been in the family for generations ...

... but the truth is, I picked it up for $80 on Gumtree a few months ago :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
