Is there anyone here who doesn't have a 51? :o Cause I don't have one. I've got a Parker 45 and 85, though. Oh and just in case, anyone here selling a really cheap 51?

Well, I have only like 65-75% of Parker 51 Special, since it's missing a cap :(

And despite all my efforts in WTB and WTT sections of FPN it's still capless...

I don't have anything from Parker. I'll probably splash for a 51 or 61 at some point.

I don't have a Parker FP either. If I get one eventually, will I say, "You complete me..." (a la Joker)? Naaahhh!

I don't have a Parker 51. I bought 21 and a Parkette Zephyr which needs a nib (anybody?) but no 51. Have almost purchased a 10 pack of Hero's a couple times but couldn't decide what to do with 8 extra Chinese pens.

I have 2 parker vector plaxtic casing with F and M nib. I also have a Parker Arrow that's 20 years old. There was another metal vector which dropped out of my filofax.

My other pens are Pelikan M200 B nib, entry level Shaeffer F nib and a Lamy Logo Brush B nib.

 Lastly is a fake MB Starwalker out of China ... the black coating on the body is peeling in a couple of months. Otherwise it is a nice comfortable F nib.

If I could, I'd give you one of mine. I've got three at the moment. One '51' flighter, and a pair of black '51's with gold-filled (I think) caps.

However...there is also a really nice box which comes with the pens...and I'd much rather keep them together in the box...

Keeping them just for the box?? Think about how life-changing this could be for people like me. XD

I had two 51s in short succession and wasn't pleased with either. I doubt that I'd buy another. I confess I'm not the greatest fan of hooded nibs.

I don't have one....yet.

I'm a total newbie to the whole fountain pen thing and I want to get more comfortable with how they work before I dive into vintage pens. I would hate to spend the money on a nice 51 and then do something silly and trash it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
