Art friend selling the discontinued Pelikan new classic lacquer pen really cheap.

At S$39.90 can't get a cheaper pelikan with 14k nib.

They also sell an aluminium Pelikan with steel nib (unknown model) at S$20.

Anyone know what model is it ?

Could it be the M250 or M100? for lacquer pen?

Edited to add - called the Bras Basah Branch - it's a P381

Hi guys,

Any idea what "wet" inks can be bought in Singapore? I have pelikan 4001 inks and they write pretty dry with my pilot prera and so so for my estie 9048.

I just got some PR Chocolat from AB to try but looking for some (not too expensive) nice browns inks.

Pelikan brilliant brown mix with a small percentage of quink looks great but doesn't drop a wet enough line for my personal taste.

Any suggestions?

It has been said before that adding some dishwashing liquid would help. Just dip a toothpick in the soap before mixing it into the converter of ink. Haven't tried it myself though. :hmm1:

Looking to exchange ink samples! Available: Noodler's Bulletproof Black, Noodler's 54th Massachusetts, Noodler's Black Swan in English Roses, Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher, Noodler's Operation Overlord Orange

Sounds like the Future, a school pen similar to the Pelikano. Is it the one shown here? I didn't know the New Classic had a gold nib, but that's an excellent price for a gold-nibbed pen.

It's like a hybrid between the future and pura, more to the pura side.

I bought one last weekend and it's very smooth for a $20 pen.

That's true. They're a bit too skinny for me, but I really like the clip. Looks like the blade of a gladius :)

It's a Pelikan 2000 or a 3000, iirc.

There've been a few threads on this pen in the past e.g.

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...ikan+2000\

It's a bit obscure. The problem is I can't find a pic to confirm.

Waterman Havana! Great flow, very well-behaved ink.

Might be tricky to find here. Don't think Aesthetic Bay has any more.

Try asking at the Waterman pen counters in dept stores. If they don't have any ask if you can order.

Seems like Fook Hing does a variety of things. Are they good? I always buy from departmental stores but I am sure these are cheaper. I am planning to buy Fisher Space Pens from there. Apparently, they are listed on the Fisher site as the official distributer.

Fook Hing prices should be the same as departmental stores but they will give you discount of 15-20% .

However nowadays pen counters at departmental stores are perpetually on 20% sales anyway.

Ello. I just started on FP too, got my first WM Hemisphere in Robinsons for less than SGD100. Got another Sailor Sapporo at Astestic Bay for SGD240 together with the Spirit of Bamboo from Noodlers. Planning to get a Lamy (Haven't decide which one) over at the writingdesk as soon as they've got the J Herbin ink which I can't find in Singapore.

I read from another website, apologise for not being able to quote the source, there's some nice find at Daiso - FP, cartridges and syringe for topping up the converters. I've yet to check out but I intend to do so this week.

Hope to hear more about where I can find stuff in SG too. Else, online shopping seems very attractive.

That's probably Readymade's FAQ for Fountain Pens in Singapore. There is also a Fountain Pens in Singapore Thread here on FPN with lots of useful info.

Really true, the stores, I think, are desperate. Most Times bookstores have good ranges. I always go to the one at Funan. Kinokuniya is stupid. No discount for any stationery. NBC has lots, including its higher end ones at Takashimaya (Basement and the Specialised Departmental Section level 3? There are also counters selling cross, waterman, sheaffer and acme.)

I think part of the reason why Kinokuniya doesn't give discounts for stationery is because the stationery department is really run by NBC, not Kinokuniya.

Exactly. Which makes them really evil.

Try Fook Hing, I paid $45.00 for 2 bottles in Febuary. There's a Caran d'ache boutique at Raffles City, $25.00 per bottle.

See that there are quite a few people here from Singapore.

So where do you guys buy your pens in Singapore ?

Where to get a good price ?

I find that Pelikan tend to have favourable pricing in Singapore.

Pilot on the other hand is very expensive in Singapore.

The list price for the Vanishing point on pilot singapore website is actually SGD 235.9 while the list price on pilot international website is only US$139.

Popular seems to be the only selling it in Sg.

Anyone seen it elsewhere ?

Mustaffa ?Haven't been there for a long time. Btw are their pens at good prices ?

What about Montblanc ?

Heard that ADs will give 10% discount but the Montblanc boutiques will not do so.

I know of some specialised pen shops at Bras Basah, Peninsular Plaza, Funan etc.

Are they selling at cheaper price than department stores ?

The departmental stores do have 20% discounts on various brands on and off though.

Fook Hing, Elephany & Coral and Aesthetic Bay carry good range of Pilot Vanishing Point. I paid $250.00 for the 08' ltd ed Purple at Fook Hing last week. Not too sure about the other 02 shops which look 'expensive' to me. Yes, Montblanc ADs like LinKong and Fook Hing give 10% off on pens and small leathers.

$240.00 for sailor Sapporo? I paid $199 in Febuary from another shop. Wonder why the price difference, perhaps depend on the discount that sellers give. Just got a 1911 demo for $380.00, the 21k nib obviously performs better than the Sapporo 14k, but I prefer the size of the Sapporo.

Lamy 2000 will be a good one if you want to consider, just take note that the 2000 F nib writes like other brands' M.

Try 'Overjoyed' near 89 Short Street. They have some decently priced pens, inks and paper. If not, try 'Ink and Paperie' online for Kawecos and Lamys.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
