Using coverters on FPs

Hi.

I've just ordered a Rotring converter (universal style) and it is supposed to go for a Rotring Esprit F-Nib. Can it be used on it? If so, can any universal style nibs accept a converter as long as it fits the barrel of the pen? Basically, can any FP accept a converter provided they fit the pen perfectly? TY ;)

BTW, for those who read I was searching for what inks my local pen store carry, I'm stuck with Parker/MontBlanc/Rotring/Waterman/Sheaffer/OMAS/Pelikan. Out of luck for Noodler's or Private Reserve then <_< :( . These manufacturers only have a few colors

Hi,

Well, yes, most pens should accept a converter as long as it fits in the barrel. The exception should be pens with integrated filling systems, as they do not need a converter.

Shall I recommend Pelikan ink? I really like the colours and always have a little on hand. :)

So it seems they can suck the ink from the bottle, that's what I thought.

In terms of permanent black, I love Parker Quink's and Rotring (though the latter does not carry it in bottle). I need a black-blue ink (are these permanent?) and a more exotic orange/yellow tone (though this will be hard to find here).

I'll waiting for the converter to arrive and if it fits all my "standard" cartridge pens, I'll get a MontBlanc one and possibly a Pelikan one (possibly coz I think it might be a good idea to keep a pen running cartridges so that I can exchange them easily when at university). Then I'm just missing a Parker converter for my new Frontier.

Hi,

Montblanc ones only fit Montblanc pens by the way. They screw in.

You might be able to find Montblanc Permanent Blue-black. It is a waterproof blue-black.

Then the lady who I talked to didn't knew this <_< . I looked at it and didn't see it screwed in. Anyway, I ordered the Rotring one to make sure it works with my Rotring. No harm there

Thank you for your support Dillo ;)

Oh, and yes, I can get any colors from the brands I posted :P

I agree with dillo on what he said. For example, I used an old Squeeze converter from a hero pen and ditched my reg converter in my Ancora. I installed the squeeze converter and now the Ancore holds 2 times as much ink as before. As long as it fits in the pens barrel and sucks ink, you should be fine. And yes, there are exceptions to the rules!!

If European-produced orange and yellow inks are easier for you to order (through a shop, on the Web, by fax or by snail mail), the best non-commercial list with digital images, text descriptions and useful information is on the PENS'n'INKS website of FPN member Michael Richter. The only important European brand he doesn't mention is J. Herbin (offering several colors you might want to consider), which is easy to find information about.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
