Toronto International Pen Show Announcement #3

Just a quick note to say that I enjoyed the show. I'm fairly new to the whole fountain pen thing and it was good to see the level of interest. The biggest surprise was that my wife bought 3 pens to give to friends (ok, they were Cross ballpoints and rollerballs) so we're certain to return next year.

Thanks to everyone.

Wad.

Sean, did you ever get a chance to talk to Baldeep (of Phidon)?

Thank you Karin, Phidon is the name of the shop I was trying to remember.

Glad you had a great time at the show.

Cheers,

Sean

A couple of times I got over there to speak to him, but I kept getting interrupted with clients. I will catch up with him soon though, he is not that far from where I live.

Cheers,

Sean

Must add my impression to the pen show it was :puddle: :puddle: :puddle: AMAZING.

This is a once in a year event and thank god for that or I would go bankrupt :ltcapd: .

Indeed Sean's table was covered by people and I could hardly see him.All you could do is hear his dools making noises behind the human curtain.

I love Karins idea and whole hearly agrees with it Sean you are indeed "CONM" (Canada Official Nib Master)

I am at work right now holding my MB 146 you tweaked for me and enjoy every stroke of the nib (I cant wait to hear what you will do with my Serenite and Vacumatic).

Respect to all

We are booked at the Hilton roughly the same time next year (after Thanksgiving though). I love the space and I think we found our home.

Sharie and I will be going over the surveys in detail over the next few weeks to build a better show. I look forward to reading Doug's article for the Pennant.

The Toronto Pen Show was indeed a terrific event. I purchased one pen ( a yummy Signum Orione from Lorne) and some notebooks from Russell at Note Bene. It was great meeting him and even though I needed more notebooks like I need more pens, ink etc, I couldn't resist.

Thanks to Bill and Shari for a job well done.

I'm extremely lucky to belong to a pen club where I have access to one of the best pen technicians, and now official nibmeister of Canada

:notworthy1:

And I was both shocked and delighted to learn of the Phidon Pen shop which is located within walking distance of my apartment. :headsmack:

I'm going to be going for a walk much more frequently. Excercise is very important! :bunny01: :roflmho:

Yes Karin, you did filtch that Signum from right under my nose, but he who hesitates is lost. I had a great time and my bank account can attest to that. Sean was up to his eyeballs in customers so I'll have to nab him at the next Cmabridge breakfast.. Good show Bill.

I would love to get more information as to when the next Toronto International Pen show will be. I missed the last one , so i'm excited to try and make it to the 2009 extravaganza.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
