Recommended Posts

I was checking the pen sites and noticed this new CS LE pen and absolutely fell for it!! A stunning pen!! I might have to save all of my pennies for this one.

I'm sure most on the FPN know about it already as i'm always a little late on

everything

But i couldn't help but admire it's beauty.

Uless you have your own copper mine, I'm guessing you'll have to save more than pennies for this one! It's a great-looking pen. Good luck -- I hope it finds a home on your desk!

SInce we're stating opinions I'll say that I think its ugly.

What a pompous looking pen.

Looks only slightly more useful than the Krone LEs.

The enamel even looks uneven.

I wouldn't go that far but the color isn't really pleasing to me. And I guess the little engraved flowers along with the exposed silver are sort of 'over the Krone' Maybe for the too much money and not enough taste group  But this isn't how I feel about this one more that last few CS pens in general.

What I can't understand is why Conway Stewart doesn't at least put out a pen that mere mortals might be able to afford. It seems that in the last year or so it's limited edition after super-limited edition after don't even think you can ask what the pen costs edition. They are suppose to have come from the same company (which is debatable) that produced many nice reasonably priced pens but have decided that there's more money in the ultra small run pens.

Rather sad as some of the materials in their bespoke line are very nice.

Kurt, you are absolutely correct. I have many vintage Conways but the price of even their new basic pens are well...I don't have enough moonbeams.

Same here. I think they have lovely designs and patterns, but even the smallest tag... ouch. It reminds me of Recife for that matter.

I wish Kevin had an attentive contact at CS as he has at Dani.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
