Parker Gel Refills

Recommended Posts

+1...

I had purchased a Parker Gel 6-pack when it was introduced...one DOA, two soon seized up, another one works flawlessly while the last two ooze goo. That gel refill shamed Parkers' brand name.

Meanwhile, I had tried a no-name generic...very good; Itoya...the best; Schmidt Easyflow...good enough; Monteverdi...seized-up; then Parker Quinkflow...ball point refill and surprisingly good.

I tried the Parker Gels a couple times and they worked great for a while. However, a little dirt, lint, whatever, in the mechanism and they fail. Other makers seem not to have this problem.

Anyone know of a Parker Like refill that comes close in Line width to High Tec C or G2 in o.4, 0.35, 0.38 mm line wiodth. Maybe I missed it in the previous posts.

I have several Kickstarter project Hand made pens I like a lot, they all take Parker style refills and Even a fine is too wide for me. Thanks for your help and guidance, Jim

Hi-Tec C is available in D1 type...usually fits multi-pen types.

D1 is easily converted into Parker style by inserting it into a bored out generic plastic Parker style refill and use a longer or double up the spring.

I have also done that same operation for Sheaffer ball pen refills with complete success...I cut off a used refill and plugged it with a nylon rod pre-bored with a deep well for the D1 refill. The same could also be achieved by using a simple nylon rod with matching end dimension.

I have used Parker Jotters with their own gel ink refills of all three colours (Red, Blue, and Black) for almost a year. Consistently the ink skips, especially over erased surfaces for some reason. Going to switch to using Visconti gel ink refills.

I have also tried a Zebra D1 [JSB-0.5] gel refill with complete success...simply popping it into my adapter. The Zebra gel D1 lasts far longer than H-Tec C.

I have now also tried a Uniball Jetstream D1 [0.7mm] Mediaum Black refill.

It's a little finer than Medium I'd expect...but works fine just like any Jetstream, intensely black, doesn't skip, doesn't blob.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
