mont blanc from scrap metal dealer!

Tonight a metalsmith friend of mine gave me a Mont Blanc pen (appears to be new without any scuffs or scratches) that he found at a scrap metal dealer years ago! Unfortunately I can't include a photo (no dig. camera) but if any of you can help me identify it, I'd really appreciate it.

It's a very sleek slender pen in brushed stainless steel, about 5.5" capped and 6.25" posted. It's thinnest at the end, about 5/16" and 3/8" at the widest point near the grip. The grip has a sandblasted finish. The clip looks like chrome. Both the cap and end are flat.

The snow cap logo on a black background is set into the end of the cap. The bottom of the pen also has a tiny white snow cap but it's mounted directly on the stainless steel. A tiny engraving beneath the bottom of the clip says"Mont Blanc Germany."

The nib is steel and is marked "MB." It's fine or extra fine and very smooth. The nib is thin and the sides sort of fold around the feed. The feed looks like one solid piece with no visible fins.

The cap snaps on and also posts with a deliberate snap.

The pen has a long international cartridge in it -- and seems to be a great writer! The nib is way too fine for me, and the the pen is way too slender to be comfortable for my hand. But it's a very elegant minimalist looking pen and is perfect as an agenda or purse pen.

My friend seems to think that this pen is from the mid-80's. Does anyone know what I've got? Thanks in advance for any clues!

Hi,

It might be a Noblesse--which I am looking for.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.

UPDATE!

Thanks -- I'll try to find images of the Noblesse to compare it to... I keep spending money on pens instead of a dig. camera, but one of these days! I can check with my friend to see if he's got any more of these and will let you know if he does.

UPDATE -- yes, it's a Noblesse -- I just saw the picture and read a review at Rickconner.com/penspotters. Thanks for helping me identify this pen! :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
