I stuck my head in the Raffi Boutique in Oakville Place Shopping Centre today to look at an MB 149 FP they had on display. I nearly croaked when I saw the price: Cdn$735 (plus 13% sales tax). With the Canadain $ close to par with the US $ that strikes me as outrageous. They also had a 100 Year SE Starwalker FP for Cdn$550 (plus 13% sales tax). What would you pay for them in the US and Europe?

MB149 retail close to $1000 in Australia but can locally online a little under $700.

I think the current MSRP in the US is $695 but it may have gone up in recent months.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
