Got promotion - going to treat myself to a...pencil!

I have been wanting one of these pencils for some time, but could not justify it, however I have just been promoted, to a brand new position, very exciting, it will involve LOTS of writing, so I figure I am now entitled to this pencil.

I am now the Jury Trial Scheduler for the Auckland District Court, so if any of you are unlucky enough to be charged with a crime in Auckland, and elect trial by jury-then I am the one who will be handing out a trial date, if any one has ever dealt with lawyers, then you will know that lots of paper work is involved, and whilst I tend to use my fountainpens occasionally a good pencil is called for. Hence my need for the L2K pencil.

Question though - anyone know when Lamy started producing the L2K pencil? Presumably later than the FP...but when?

Congratulations on your promotion and you certainly deserve a quality pencil. I see you have the Lamy Vista pen, also. A matching Vista pencil would make another fine addition to your collection. I'm a big fan of pen & pencil sets, I carry one around with me at all times. Sorry, I can't answer your historical question, but I'm sure someone here will be able to provide your answer. Again, congratulations.

Big  :bunny01: on the promotion

Good choice of pencil, but may I suggest that my experience with lawyers, calls for a softish lead in the pencil and a bumber bundle pack of soft erasers, you are going to be doing a lot of rubbing out and rewriting :ltcapd: :roflmho:

Congratulations on your promotion, and what better way to mark your promotion than to buy a new pencil to add to your collection. Enjoy

I love the idea of a good pen and pencil set. I received a Lamy 2000 FP and MP for my birthday last month. The MP has a 0.5mm lead point rather than a 0.7mm, but I can guarantee you will love using this pencil. Congratulations on your promotion and the new Lamy!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
