Hi,

Today, I opened a package and pulled out a nice box containing my Mont Blanc Generation, my first Mont Blanc. Well, it is also my first purple fountain pen!! :)

Nice, it accepts the included Mont Blanc screw-in converter. Well, it is a pretty pen, so, I went to the world of Mont Blanc. :)

Well, it feels like one solid pen!!

Hi,

I am writing the review in my diary--with the Mont Blanc of course! :) I will put the picture together later.

I see that there is nothing to criticise in this pen--nothing at all.

If you look at their website and information there is no space between the t & b.

unless they are written one atop each other.

Hi,

For pictures,

Montblanc Generation

For my review...

The Montblanc Generation was one of Montblanc's lower models. It has a 14K nib and was targeted to the same audience as the Starwalker.

It comes with an extremely smooth 14K gold nib with medium flow, very nicely shaped tipping, and good responsiveness. The quality really reminds me of Sailor nibs. To keep with its streamlined appearance, the nib has no breather hole and has the Montblanc star engraved on it with the words, "14K 585."

The pen accepts standard Montblanc cartridges and their screw-in converter. Since the converter screws in and has actual rubber seals, we should see no leaking problems. The converter itself is nice looking and has a gold-plated, delicately engraved collar with the words: "Montblanc-Germany"

I don't really know what the pen is made of, but it quite scratch resistant, and has a solid feeling (precious resin?!!). The pen is neither heavy nor light, balances well, and looks perfect on all angles (at least to me!). The cap clicks on securely with three tabs like the Lamy 2000. There is also a double cap band like the Pelikan Souverän series with the words, "Montblanc Generation" engraved on it. On the very top of the cap, there is a Montblanc star inlaid in black precious resin and surrounded by a gold band.

The pen comes in a hard, black, plastic case with Montblanc stars all over the lid and a silk-screened Montblanc logo in the centre. The lid is lined with a special foam that conforms to the shape of the pen and is very soft. The case has two spring clips underneath the silk lining. One clip grips the pen and the other clip grips the converter through the silk. This approach prevents scratching, and after all, Montblanc asks that you wipe the pen only with a lint-free cloth. Under the box, there is a slot for the Montblanc care and service guide. It is a nice touch so that the manual is always in reach.

The Montblanc Generation is a nice pen that is stylish and writes quite well. It came in many colours, so if you do some looking, you might find the colour you want. As I say, Pretty!!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
