British Ink Sample Exchange

Recommended Posts

Hi Chris,

I'd happily try a British ink exchange.

I've not tried Waterman's red or Lamy green from your list.

Inks I can offer that don't appear on your list include:

Noodlers: Baystate Blue (dangerous!) or Navy (a misleadingly named Greeny Blue).

Diamine: Sapphire Blue, Indigo, Imperial Blue, Imperial Purple, BlueBlack, Washable Blue, Prussion Blue, Florida Blue.

MontBlanc: Blue, Purple, Green

Watermans: BlueBlack, Green

Let me know if you want to try any of these and I'll send a PM with my address.

Best regards,

Andy

If only I had found this forum BEFORE I moved to Australia!

Anyhoo, rather than incur the outrageous postage rates to ship ink samples out to Australia, would people be kind enough to post pictures of writing samples with the various inks they own?

My collection of FPs has thus far only extended to Parker pens of various description but I have just received a Waterman that I would like to try with something other than Quink ink. I don't really want to waste money on a hit or miss purchase of various inks so it would be great if some of the guess work was removed from the equation if I could see examples of how the various inks write.

Pretty please????

If you head over to the Ink Reviews board, I think you'll find what you're after. The vast majority of reviews have pictures of the ink in question.

Hi UK traders!

Is anyone here still actively trading?

I'm based in Northamptonshire. I have a large stock of plastic vials, microfuge tubes, etc. in return for samples.

In terms of inks, I do have some new unusual inks from the USA like Noodler's White Peacock, and also a few Dr Ph. Martins Hydrus sets if anyone would like to try these as inks.

Please PM me, and I will try contacting some of you via PM in the coming days...

IrisEve, it would be useful if you list your inks. If you have something interesting, I'm sure vials can be found ;-).

Update on my inks:

I'm not trading CdA inks anymore. The rest is as listed.

Cheers,

Adam

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
