Who makes counterfeit Mont Blancs? Is it a sporadic thing or are there companies that do this

and produce a large number of counterfeits?

I think there were a spate of fake Parker Sonnets on the market....

Especially Dupont is heavilly affected. I even got one via ebay from a New York Chinese, I should have analyzed the image with more care :bonk: As I have real Duponts, I even can feel the difference from weight and touch.

They are mass-produced, probably in China/Taiwan, have the same flyer in the box, inconsistent lettering on the box and cheapo documentation.

 

I have one good tip for online Dupont buyers: the genuine inlay space in the box, where the pen is held in the center, has allways the fitting form of the actual pen model. The fakes have allways bands holding the pen in the flat inlay. But gemuine Dupont boxes have no bands inside!

No clue on the modern side of the equation, but believe it or not, Esterbrook was often copied in Asia, I've seen all sorts of brands that looked just like double jewel J pens, Misterlook, Adam, and others.

I'm fairly confident there are a number of counterfeit Cross FPs floating around. Either that, or the factory QC is really, really bad...
