To (bleep): Yes, you are right and I didn't make that mistake voluntarily. I do agree that the Internet can be fun place too.

Aside that I value more someone whose business is known worldwide since 1930 than some recent online store but this is just my personal preference.

Geroge I wasn't pointing out a spelling error but rather that you have excellent service when in person at the shop while people who use other communication means do not.

We understand that you really like the store and the service therein but if you have the man's ear it might help others who are not seeing the personal service you do or even internet standard service to say that his internet/phone/fax service is not up to the level that should be expected from a 78 year old company  and he is very likely losing customers because of this. He very well might not realize that his employees are treating others badly.

Georges, I must admit that I read of your experiences at the Mora pen shop with a great deal of envy. I sincerely wish I had a similar shop somewhere within a reasonable driving distance that I could visit at least one a month. But, alas!, no such thing exists for me. So I must enjoy narratives of experiences like yours, and I thank you for posting this thread.

I do not use all the brands Mr. Mora discussed, but I do use many of them. I find Mr. Mora speaks to my own experience very well. I, for one, feel affirmed that a pen expert affirms my personal experience to a large degree.

Another small pen shop, I discovered when going to the flea market yesterday told me that modern pen shops can't repair modern pens properly which is the reason why they sent them back to manufacturers but also that modern pen shops strongly discourage people from buying vintage pens. ... I think with many different products, not just writing instruments, technicians have been replaced by people with limited training who just replace parts. The situation disappoints me, but it will not change any time soon.

I look forward to your impressions of the AD 2000. I have one in red that I love. I was lucky enough to get a factory stub nib on mine, and it is a great writer. I have understood the AD 2000 series was manufactured by Namiki and that it is, in effect, a torpedo shaped version of the current Namiki "Bamboo" series.

He has sold pens on the internet and he is sometimes very busy at phone when I enter in his boutique. Extremely few people have been disappointed by him. Two people I know bought pens from him on the net, yes you can order and buy your pens from him on the net and they were very happy. (bleep), whatever I buy I like to see it in person, it saves my time, my money and avoids me tons of useless troubles. I am an old fashioned if not an outdated guy (for some people :roflmho:) when it comes to purchasing but my way of doing things never got me into trouble and only gave me satisfaction but everyone is different in their habits of purchasing and I sincerely do respect that. The customer service of a shop is what makes the difference and Mr Mora's shop has a 5 stars service class rate according to thousands of buyers who rated the shop and even abroad Mr Mora is well known and well respected name. He is working alone and is always having a solid loyal clientele. I saw once a customer last months ago who bought him three 8000€ Namikis Emperors in Urushi and he told me he was a customer of mora since 1980. I have bought nearly 13 pens from him since 2006 and never got a single lemon, that is enough convincing for me to buy from him again. Mr Mora is very respectful of his customers and customer service is something that is of the highest importance for him.

I do not want to give the impression that I am disparaging the store. I only suggest that if you do have a rapport with Mr. Mora that maybe you could interceed with him on behalf of Peheme who is having a less than stellar customer experience.

Dear (bleep)

Peheme is living in St Pierre et Miquelon which is a small island thousands of miles away far from Paris. I am not Mr Mora's assistant nor his employee just to make things clear , solving other people's problems is something I never do because it is not my business. The best thing for Peheme to do is to phone to the shop from 9.am to 6.pm from Monday to Thursday where Mr Mora will answer or Saturday from 1 p.m to 7.pm where Mr Mora will answer too and explain exactly that he ordered the pen in question which has not arrived. I can go with people to Mr Mora's shop so they can discover the shop and buy what they want but I never solve another person's problem because it can lead me into trouble and I don't want that.

Hello,

Some news:the pen has arrived and is now held by the local customs. I should get it this afternoon.

It is not always easy to determine is one is really upset or merely joking by reading a message.

More so when English is only a secondary language.

So, let me be clear: I was not dissing Mr Mora or his shop.

In fact, I did not plan to write about my experience. It was only after reading Georges post and the first reaction to it by Samovar that I thought that it would be interesting to share.

I ordered a pen, but did not realize at first that the price included the euro tax. Here, we have our own taxes.

So, my fear was that the local customs would determine my taxes based upon the full price, which also included the euro tax.

Luckily for me, Mr. Mora stated both prices (with and without the euro tax) on the bill. I had a custom officer on the phone and could hear the sound of torn packaging when he opened the parcel.

The online receipt I got after payment only stated one price, tax included.

I could have paid less by avoiding the euro tax in the first place, but it could have been much worse.

On a side note, maybe Mr. Mora lost some money too, because I only paid 10 euros for postage...

I'll keep the board posted about the pen, a DaniTrio Wakasa Muri.

Now, lets hope I can escape from work a few minutes to retrieve it.

I am glad everything turned out pretty correctly. I wish you a lot of writing pleasure with your Dani Trio.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
