I am wondering how the fine and medium nibs compare regarding flow and smoothness.

I have a 100 with a fine nib abd it's a firehose!

The scan below is a comparison. Notice it is almost equivalent to a Parker 21 with a medium nib. The Falcon 50 is a fine, quite a difference!

Very nice writer, takes no pressure whatsoever.
