No. The caps do not post.

That's a shame.I like the idea of being able to post the cap on the end of a pen--it creates the impression of more volume.

The beauty of Brian's pens is that you do not need to create the impression of volume. The reality of volume is built in!

virtually all of my pens have the cap posted - I am curious why you have made your pens without that ability? A pen never seems balanced to me without the cap on the end.

I think you'll find when a good pen is designed to not post, it will be well balanced without the cap on the end.

All thirty of my pens are well balanced without being posted; in fact posting makes them very top heavy.

I could design these to post, but the end of the barrel would look awkward.

Take a look at a Dani Trio Tosca. If my pens were made to post, they would have to have barrels that would look like the Tosca, with that little "tenon" on the end.

While I love the Tosca, I don't like how the end of the barrel looks.

And if you post one my pens, the balance goes caput.

If you wanted me to make you one of my pens that can post, I could do it, but personally, I dont like how they look or feel posted.

But the customer is always right....if that's what you want, I can make you one.

Thanks.

Thanks Brian - appreciate your advice. I suppose it just comes down to habit. I have about 8 duofolds (1990s) and they just don't feel right without the cap posted. My Lamy Safaris and my others all post. But I take your advice that the balance of your pens is such that it isn't necessary. I am saving Brian and will order in the next few weeks.

Brian - I'm wondering if you can do this pen without a clip.

There are pens in my collection (probably most notoriously my Jotter) that aren't well balanced unless posted, but I think the bulk of the big boys very carefully design their products to feel balanced posted or unposted. I think this probably also comes down to hand size and other personalized preferences. The two of us may well own the same pen and yet I might insist it is not well balanced unposted while you believe it to be poorly balanced when it is posted. One example would be the Trio Classic I love to use posted. It's a heavy pen, and I admit that it does seem a bit top heavy. It's top heavy in the most pleasing way to me as far as I'm concerned.

When you're dealing with a highly gifted craftsman with low volume, it's a whole different issue. I'm sure there are pen makers in the category who design pens to be balanced posted (and we know there is at least one who does so unposted), but the numbers just aren't there to require the type of work the big boys do to make their products conform to a wide variety of users. I think we can probably all agree that if every user here ordered one of these pens all at once, it would probably result in a moment of euphoria followed closely by a nervous breakdown!

Hi Brian,

Lovely Pen!!!!!!!!

Do you think anything would go wrong if I just filled the ink in the barrel and used it as an Eyedropper.......!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
