Anyone planning a trip to Lytham for this year's Northern Pen Show?

Sunday April 20 - just 13 weeks away if my maths is any good.

(That's 13 weeks to save your pennies!)

Last year was my first one, and it was great to put faces to names from FPN -hope we can do it again this time!

We can sail safely inside the harbour but that is not what ships were built for - anon

Absolutely!

I may not be able to buy anything - but I'm going just to meet up with folks again!

I can't wait!

I'm not sure under what circumstances I would have pledged a beverage to a stranger, but you're more than welcome at our table! Casmi is still waiting for the whisky she ordered last year, so you might want to bring a flask . . .

I'd forgotten all about that!

I'll know better this time!

Don't worry Carol I'll be there, (in fact you'll probably fall over my tables as you come into the room!) and I'll have at least a couple of freebie bottles of ink for you.

The Midland Pen Show website is now up by the way you can find it here www.midlandpenshow.co.uk.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the gang once again.

 Hi Ian!

You KNOW I'll be spending a lot of time at your table.......but that's just because you and Ann are so much fun to talk to!

Hmmmm....are you recovered from your last meeting with 'the gang'? :ltcapd:

I've already got the Midlands Show in my diary - it sounds like a dream weekend!

You bet, I always try and give my valued customes a little extra!

I'll be in the Clifton Arms Hotel from Saturday if anyones around for a drink and a chat.

The Writing Equipment Society is holding one of their meetings at the Clifton Arms on Saturday afternoon, these sessions are usually pretty good and this would be worthwhile attending if you can get to it.

Not long now, see you all there :)

Ian, do you still have the leather pen cases? If so I might just have to get a new one from you at the Show. Then of course I'll have more room because I'll just have to fill it with new pens ;)

I think this show will be the best Northern yet, certainly Alan has been putting a lot of effort into making it a great show, I can't wait, my hotel's been booked for weeks and I'm really looking forward to it.

Yes, Carrie I should have a full range of pen cases at the show, I'll also have the full range of Diamine ink - and you will be able to try the colours out at my table I'll also be giving away boxes of Diamine cartridges to my FPN friends but I only have a few dozen boxes to hand out.

Don't forget that the Writing Equipment Society is having a meeting at the Clifton on Saturday afternoon and also remember that there is a pen auction on Friday and I have it on good authority that there are some very interesting lots going under the hammer. All in all it should be a cracking weekend and I hope to see you all there.

Regards

Ian

Is this a new take on "come up and see my etchings" - "come up and see my range of Diamine ink" :yikes:

I'm gonna drive down from Scotland on Sunday morning, then back up at night.

Looking forward to it, cos I've never been to a pen show before.

PS I got a cartridge fill kit from you Ian... is that Diamine Umber you use to write notes on the invoices?......

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
