Some help identifying an MB watch

Bryant

Recommended Posts

Hope this is ok posting this, even though its not a pen...

Here are some pics of a MB watch I just got. I can’t tell what kind of MB watch it is, unless it’s just an automatic...It does not say meisterstuck or anything else that would help. I was going to take it to a MB boutique, but the closest one is a few hours away, so it won’t be for quite some time.

Does anyone here have knowledge of Montblanc watches?

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Bryant

PS as you can tell the watch is huge, here its next to my MB 149. Thing has some weight too!

Hello Bryant...

Well, the problem is that this appears to be a 'replica'. The Montblanc model they are attempting to replicate is the Montblanc Sport Steel (I have one version on my wrist as I write). The issue is that I have never seen this particular watch face configuration on a Montblanc Sport Steel watch, not to mention it doesn't mention its water resistance rating on the face either (most dive-rated watches tend to do this for bravado reasons), the Montblanc branding is completely different than anything I've seen, the bezel looks too 'big' for the casing, and I can't see a serial number on the back of the watch

Now, I am by no means a definitive answer, but I would certainly question the seller you purchased this from. Better yet, you can contact Montblanc with the serial number if it is on the caseback and have it checked for authenticity -- they should also be able to tell you the model of the watch if it is legit.

Please, let me know if this does turn out to be legitimate since I'd like to know what the model and year is in that case.

Hope it helps...cheers!

I am going to contact MB today, and I will let you know... There is a serial number, its hard to see it on the picture, but its on the top. I hope its not a replica, it cost me a pretty penny (For me it was a lot)

I concur. This looks to be a knock off.

Perfect!

Well I guess I will await MB for the final answer...

Thanks,

B

The movement does not look like an ETA movement. The sport series have the bezel like yours, the watch in your picture is trying to look like this one:

Here are all the models:

Hopefully you can return it for a refund.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
