waste of bandwidth

Trying the Tinypic host. and have not figured it out yet. This was the first handy picture.

The board won't let me post a pic in the format http://tinypic.com/o3ic2 which is how that host works. Too bad since it is free and easy.

looks good to me, Grump!

nice escape from where I'm sitting.

KCat:

Yes, you can see the image by clicking on the link but the board won't allow me to post the image directly to the message with the IMG code button. I get a format not allowed error. Give it a try. By the way, the picture is just a bridge over one of the 5 rivers here at home.

By the way, I get the same error on Rambling Snail.

It's matter if image name. The extension is omitted on the server you use, Grumpy. I renamed the pic o3ic2.jpg, and loaded it on our server. It works. If you just add the .jpg extension on your server, it should work as fine.

Great shots. Takes me back to 98 when I was travelling to tthe area on business. First time to Cal (I'm from eastern Canada). It was stunning. Had a beachfront motel in Carlsbad. Still remember being on the beach in the evening watching the electroluminescence in the water... Don't ever see that around here.

Took a tour 'round the Temicula Valley tasting wines. Remember the first few, wines tasted better and better as we went along. Yes, dammit - we swallowed <grin>.

Had a few tours as well - saw Mt Palomar, San Diego and took the obligatory trip to Tijuana. Great stuff. Gotta return some day.

Trying a new host. VillagePhotos.

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-11/896265/lone-cypress.jpg

The Lone Cypress near Pebble Beach since this thread moved to California from South Carolina.

I understand that the image of the lone cypress is trademarked but I can post the photo that I took if I'm not trying to use it commercially.

This should work much better. Not as easy as TinyPic but VillagePhotos does use a format that allows me to post here and on Rambling Snail.

I am puzzled. A photo you took of natural surroundings is trademarked? By whom? Anyway, nice shot.

Life is short, so make the best of it while we still have it.

The image of the lone cypress is trademarked by the property owner. I am able to take as many pictures as I wish and use them in any non-commercial way that I wish. They don't mind us sharing the pictures but they don't want us to use the images for profit. I can understand. After all, it is their tree and their road that took me there and if they want to keep it from commercial exploitation it's ok with me.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
