Hello.

Does anyone have experiences of purchasing pens from pilot561?

Am interested in some of his stock, but perhaps unfairly to this seller and others, the stories of disappointment on eBay make me wary.

Thanks

Hi

Your message could be misinterpreted - at least I did at first! As cyberpen (pilot561) has a 100% record with no withdrawn feedback, his history does not smack of disappointment. There are others that may not be so credible, of course. Cyberpen is a member of this forum and has some respect. I am currently awaiting a pen from him and, although sometimes a wee bit slow to answer, have no reason to expect anything other than good service.

Hope that helps

Stephen

I bought a pen from him recently. It didn't work properly so I sent it back to the manufacturer to be fixed - just an ink starvation problem. I told him about it after advising the manufacturer and before it went back as a way of protecting myself if there was a problem. He was concerned that I had an issue with the pen and asked me to contact him if the problem was not sorted out by the manufacturer.

Patrick on this forum has more experience with him arguably and I am sure that he will be along shortly with his two penneth!

Thanks Stephen

This is exactly what I was trying to learn. I don't wish to suggest I am doubtful of the seller's integrity, as you say feedback is 100%. But pilot561 is relatively new in terms of feedbacks so I am trying to learn as much as possible about him and the FPN has so far proven to be a valuable community i.t.o. knowing a lot more than a novice like me can find trying to navigate on the Bay. Kinda like a 2nd opinion. Now I know pilot561's FPN name I will not only be more confident on eBay but also keep a look out for his wares on FPN.

Thanks Stephen and hello Cyberpen, please be assured I meant no insult.

Best wishes

Nic

Yep, Cyberpen (aka Richie of cyberpens.co.uk) is a great seller - enough said really. I've bought three pens from him, Lamy 2000 (eBay) and a Pilot Prera and Aurora 88 from cyberpens.co.uk.

Absolutely no complaints - only problem I ever had was a Royal Mail strike that delayed the Prera.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
